Quarter panel dent from racing
I've been racing my '74 Chevelle for 45 years now.
Over the last couple years I've noticed a "dent" appearing in the LH quarter panel. I can pop it back into position, making it virtually disappear (or greatly minimized) but it comes right back. Is there an adhesive patch, maybe with a structure backing, that I can put on the backside to help it out? Or could I make my own, maybe with structural adhesive and sheet metal? Would it eventually "read through", especially on a black car? I've added a full cage over the winter so I'm hoping that helps. I feel like if I could stuff a football or a soccer ball in there and have it stay that it would work. Thanks in advance - K

Find your local paintless dent repair guy....fix that in a jiffy.
Or just pop it out....and take a body spoon with 3 layers of duct tape on the spoon ...and tap tap tap on that top crease on the 1/4 panel. That will tighten it up. But if your uncomfortable with that...go with the PDR |

I assume all those years of racing are causing the body to flex when you launch. Maybe the body bushings are collapsed, or maybe even there's a crack formed in the chassis?

My turbo car has the same issue, can pop the dent in and put happened even w a 10 pt cage, every once in a while after a run I notice that popped in pop it back out and it’s a fine for a while can’t even tell it was ever there . I have kicker bars that go all the way back to the tail light panel area too
Muslcahs plan sounds like the best solution to me if o had to fox mine I’d do that but it’s rare mine pops in so I just live with it. I think before I did that though try taking a heat gun or a halogen light get it fairly hot (but not bubble the paint hot) and then put a very cold wet sponge on it to shrink the metal while it’s popped out. That may be enough to SET the metal memory outwards. I did this to mine and it definitely pops in far less than it used to in fact I can’t remember the last time it did pop in .

Thanks guys; good thoughts - keep 'em coming.
Right now I'm leaning toward the paintless dent guy, assuming I can find the right one. K
