You are of course excluding that 69 in your garage in your statement. I like it, well priced I would think too. It would be a crime to restore that car.

Nice, love those original cars even if this one is a little crusty.

I'd be inclined to put a set of NOS front fenders on it and try and match the patina…and patch the quarters. I guess being a Michigan car originally took its toll early on.

Can't help but notice the Rally II's correct untouched JT's but with brutal[good] masking issues .

I like it, too. The crust would have likely been a lot worse on the quarters/fenders if it had wheel well moldings. No power steering - neat car ...

Looks like they did a nice job fitting that Gardner exhaust.
Lloyd - check out that splitter fitment - no "wheelbarrow handles" !!

That color combo has always been my favorite on a 70 Judge, the gold goes great with the stripes and the black guts.
Just enough of a scaly look underneath that I could never leave it like that though. I had a 70 W30 (same color scheme too) in a very similar unrestored condition; 30,000 miles, not quite as rusty as that but a similar scaly look underneath with original paint. I didn't like it the way it was but didn't have the heart to restore it so sold it.

I think that's a SUPER cool car, and I am flabbergasted that the car hasn't sold at it's current asking price; I too would want to at least take measures to clean it up. Unfortunately the only stuff that looks like it wouldn't need touching are the headliner and dash... small rips here and there, and that general crustiness..

It was on CL for at least 6 months, I kept glossing over it right after initial review and it was in my backyard almost.
Why the interest, it’s still for sale https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/...602933442.html

Appreciate a NICE ORIGINAL musclecar as much anyone. What cracks me up is the continual near worship of rot box cars with a semblance of original paint on them. Wouldn't go as far as say the Granada Gold RAIII 4spd Judge is a $6500 parts car, but with that much rust damage & even 25K + final & shipping expenses, it sure wouldn't be taking up a minimum of 8 x 17 ft in my building, OR in just about anyone else, that I personally know, that is very serious about this era of Judge or RA GTO.
As far as being a "crime to restore it" disagree with the "crime" part! but sure wouldn't be a good financial outlay! Given a buyer with a nice pair of used correct dated fenders, most likely a nice pair of doors, whatever it takes to meticulosly metal repair the lwr 14's, the trunk floor(?), it is minutely possible that if one could mix the right tint of Granada gold lacquer paint. Then and only then, maybe... that pair of front fenders could be paint matched, as well as lower rear 1/4's. That stated, we all have a good idea the rust damage is much more extensive. Even if was able to end up with a very presentable Granada gold body with, let's say, 75% being original paint, the under body and frame have got to have been ravaged by the Northern rust. Just an evolving project/money pit that some fool bought! enamored by, lol, "patina". No delusions here!

Did I miss something? All I saw was some surface rust on the fenders.

Mark, The ebay link has changed since this thread was started. The original was a GG 70 Judge with a fair amount of rust, now starting this evening it goes to the rough white "parts car" 70 GTO.
I'm not sure when it started & why but ebay now takes you to a similar current auction instead of taking you to a completed auction. I've noticed this on other ended auctions when searching certain items, they show the original item in the summary but when you click on it again you're taken to a current but different similar auction. I suspect ebay is trying to prevent buyers from seeing something that didn't sell, the buyer contacts the seller & they make a deal off of ebay cutting them out of their piece of the action. |
