Sprint 6 engine-how rare are they?
I had family over to the house today. A cousin I see only once a year or so tells me he has a friend looking for a OHC 6 for his 68' Sprint 6 Firebird. I told him I'd ask my PY guru buddies if they know where to find one.
Anyway after looking in the for sale areas I see nothing. Are these OHC engines that rare? I know NOTHING about them. Anybody got a line on one? Thanks.

I have a complete 68 Sprint ZD engine that I am taking pic's of to send to another person. I really do not wish to ship which creates some problems as you and he are somewhat far from me. I have about 550.00 in this one, but it is complete. There are out there, and every now and then you come across one. I am in south central Pa.

Thanks guys. Are these engines the "Sprint 6" versions,or just a OHC 6? From doing a little quick research there is a difference right?
My cousin tells me he has the car restored, but needs to find an engine to complete it,so he's ready to buy.

Base engines cars show up on eBay from time to time and then there are the people here who have engines pulled from vehicles. If you want to make a Sprint engine it has been done countless times.
If you are looking for cars that are all together (Sprint originals) they are very rare. |

The code will tell you which engine you are looking at. I know parts can be changed, but the code gives you a starting point. The one I have is complete from top to bottom, front to rear. It definitely should be gone through, but I can turn it over by hand without any difficulty. Not bad for sitting for 25 yrs. I think that is what your are mostly going to find when looking for a engine. They have been sitting in somebody's garage for decades. The more complete, the better.

Thanks guys.
I gave this guy info on this site,so he should see this post now. If he has questions I guess he can post them. I guess he was having a real hard time finding parts.
