How can I tell if it's NOS or repro? I can look tonight after I get home. I have a couple that were purchased around 20 years ago.

The part # is on the back side of the filler piece, at least it is on the NOS left side that I have.

I knew I had some that I ordered back in 1990, just couldn't remember which side. Unfortunately they are the left side, the right side had been discontinued by then. Some of these had a GM paper pick tag stapled to them.

I'm pretty sure the repops have the part # molded into them like the originals but they also had (I think) Ames brand molded in.

Are you sure on the PN 478365 being a RH unit? Usually an even number is for RH when sides are concerned.

Wow Steve. My '365s are more yellow in color.

I understand. From the above parts look-up on this site:
478364 2.587 42 FILLER, lamp LH 1970 1970
478365 2.587 42 FILLER, lamp RH 1970 1970

I have an NOS 478364 with the part # on the backside, it is yellow in color. Need a 478365. Thank you

This is what I have. As you can see, it's not as white as Steve's are. '365s are drivers (LH) side.

I do not have a repop to compare to an NOS.

Steve, does your NOS have the part # on the back up in the corner by the retaining hole with no other markings?

Mike, the thicker side of the filler piece mounts towards the centerline of the car, please see attached pics, a 365 is the RH passenger side, a 364 is the LH drivers side.

Here's the left (drivers) side, the #'s are by the mounting hole.

It's been years since I've had a repop in my hands but they had the same location for the molded #'s, the only difference was the supplier branding on it.

The reproduction fillers are taller than the NOS or original fillers. When you set them in the valence, the reproductions will be +/- 1/4" higher than the valence. Once you see it you cannot unsee it...

That is good to know, thank you Wakepowell! Thank you for the pics too.

Steve, did the repops have "Ames" or something like that on them that you recall? Thank you for the help, much appreciated!

I think they either had Ames or A.P.E. molded on the bottom or top outer part.
It's been 5+ years since I straightened a front valance & painted the fillers for a friend's car so I'm not positive.

Thank you for the info Steve, much appreciated! Without having a repop to compare the height, Is it fairly safe to say that if they have the part # on the piece and no other letters/numbers, they are originals? Thank you, Jason

Jason,

Looking at my pictures and the ones above, it may be safe to assume that the originals are a yellowish color and the reproductions are more white.
