I know there was a Canadian issued 1978 Grand Prix sales brochure. I was wondering, were these cars assembled also in Canada?
Did they have Chevy powertrains, like the earlier models?

I remember seeing the '86 2+2z coming up the 401 from St Therese on the carriers.The front ends were covered up and the rubber noses weren't installed.Not positive on what yrs of production.

I'm gonna answer my own question.....
The Fisher Body manual says in '78, that GM of Canada assembled two B Bodies, the Parisienne (Pontiac) and the Laurentian (Chevy???).
No A bodies, so the GP sales brochure was Canada's effort towards the Grand Prix.
Note: The '79 book added the Acadian...that's the Chevette body.

my 79 Lj was built at St Therese. Has the 301 just like any other GP for use outside of California or high altitude areas. One weird thing tho, all the part numbers in the car a from 1978. It had a 79 upper grille, but with 78 lower grilles, both bumpers are 78s, many interior items are dated 78, and the majority of the codes on the motor are 78. I'm thinking this car was a very early 79 maybe? it does have a low serial number.

Parisian = Bonneville and Laurentian = Catalina. The GP is a G body. '78 was the first year of the smaller GP. The B body went smaller in '77.
