Default Knock Knock whos there

I had the 62 out last night, drove to the store about 5 miles away. Everythings good, top down, people are waving. Then driving back home I was about 2 miles away when IT STARTS. tick tick tick TICK KNOCK KNOCK. RPM related, no sound other than a very light tick at idle.
Its a rod right! Anyone have a short block? This weekend I start pulling it about to see what the damages is!!

Oh, no! Sorry to hear about this. I'll keep an eye out for anything.

Jay,,,Are you sure its a rod knock?? My motor has a lot of miles since the last overhaul & has a nasty lifter tick that comes & goes at times. BUT,,,hard to tell. Have you had your motor apart? How many miles on it? May be best to pull it & check it out just to be on the safe side.

Hi Keith, I've only rebuilt the head back in 2002. The engine, I don't know how many miles are really on it. When I got the car in the early 90"s it was supposed to have rebuild and had less than 10K on it. Yea I'm pretty sure its a rod! Low oil pressure noise rises and falls with rpm. Maybe its time I rebuild the 215 V8 and put it in!!!!

Sounds like its time to pull it down. If your car is a numbers matching, I would keep the 4 cyl in it. Had a guy a while back here in town had a motor with rod knock, compression & leakdown was ok. We pulled the motor & flipped it over & pulled the crank out. Had it turn'd 10/10 & tossed it back in. 2 years and about 30K miles later,,, still going strong.

I know one motor in Chico PNP, and a guy in Fresno that has at least three blocks. One is 4bbl. Alot of race parts. The guy in Fresno will only sell all for $600 or trade tri-power set-up. Have you checked with Memory Lane in Wilmington? Another wrecking yard up in Kingsburg has a few.
