Default Rubber Splash Guards for Radiator Core Support

I'm going to be cleaning up and repainting the core support for my '64 Grand Prix soon. The rubber splash guards which are attached to the radiator core support are all dry rotted and tattered from age. I've seen Steele Rubber Products makes sheets of fiber-reinforced rubber that I could probably cut into pieces and make my own splash guards for the core support, but does anyone know of reproductions for a '64? That would certainly be easier than making my own. I've seen splash guards for the inner fenders, etc., but nothing for the core support from the various catalogs.

Thank you!

I bought Steele's mastic sheet and made my own for the rad and where the fenders slip over.

Thanks, Willshire. Too bad there isn't something pre-made for our cars. What's the best way you found to cut the rubber sheeting from Steele? Did you use the old ones as a template and cut the new ones with a razor knife?

Yes. I laid them out on Bristol board and made templates. I used a knife to cut them out. It was easier to transfer them to Bristol board as they are all warped so I taped them down to trace them out. You could probably do the same right onto the rubber mastic but the board laid nice and flat. It's a little thicker than the original rubber but molded real nice once the fender was on

Thank you, 70ra455. I am on Ebay and haven't seen them specifically for the core support, but I'll look.

AZ, are you talking about the core to fender shields or lower rad support shield? Or both? As i had found neither back when i did mine, lol. They don't show the shields for the inner fenders either, inner fenders should be easier to find though. I will post a pic of the mastic ones i made tonight.

Hey Willshire, I'm can't remember which splash guards are which, but basically I need to replace all of the splash guards which are attached to the core support. They're all dry-rotted, as the rest of the rubber and plastic items on my CA/AZ car seems to be. I've seen the splash guards for the inner fenders and some other pieces on Ebay and other sites, but not the ones attached to the core support.

If you can share some pics of the ones you made, that would be great. I'll probably follow your direction and use some thick construction paper or cardboard (or something like it) and make templates for the splash guards and cut out the rubber sheeting from Steele.
