What am I missing?
This is a nice example, but what am I missing that is driving up the bidding on this low option 65 Bonneville? Looks like just a base car w/ only the 8 lugs as an option. 16k and not met the reserve even with the cheesy $10 aftermarket air cleaner?

If the 11,460 miles is real, that would help.

Good color combination, super low mileage if real, nice interior. Easy to return to proper look by removing the JC Whitney go fast bolt -on parts. If it actually sells for around 20K, doesn't seem crazy out of line. Dollar per pound, it's a great buy.! It just cost a fortune to restore one of these big Ponchos if it needs lots of chrome and bodywork. This one looks nice in the pics. If you had to have all the chrome re-done on a 65-66, I bet you would be looking at $5000.00-7500.00 for a Bonneville with all the pot metal. That's 25% the cost of that car.

Maybe because the seller says it is a 5 door model. That would be super rare.

My bet is that the odometer has turned over and it's 111k miles, not 11k. And there is a lot of missing info in the ad. Plenty of used car 'fluff' though. Is the paint original or is it a repaint? Oh, and the hood pad installed upside down! Whew!

Yeah...
I was almost buying the 11k mile thing until I noticed the worn piping on the driver seat. Hardly possible with Morrokide from my experience. It IS a nice ride though! A friend traded his super clean '67 GTO genuine little old lady's car with air and power windows...bad repaint from the flipper who bought it out of the estate but probably the most solid GTO I've ever ridden in...where was I....oh, yeah...traded for a similar Bonny...white '66 black interior and 34k original miles. Land yachts have a following...me included. I had a '65 4-door I bought just to drive and ended up shipping it to Norway. Guy who picked it up said he stays busy buying only '60's and early '70's GM land yachts for about a half dozen guys overseas. Kinda like our old Harleys...we took them for granted and now they are gone!

I would bet money it is 100K miles as if you look at the odometer you will see the numbers don't line up straight across & this is the way you can tell if it has more then 100K. GM made it so once the numbers go all the way around they won't line up straight across. That was something that is built in the odometers so they & you can tell the extra milage on the cars. Other then that it is a very nice car. I wonder if you can trace back a bit to some of the past owners to find out if the engine had been changed in the past & thats the reason for the different emblems on the car. But for that nice of a car the hokey add ons have to go right in the trash. Also I would have to add A/C (aftermarket) so I could drive it all over & back again.
