We are now in the beginning stages of our 85 GP project and have a question. I would rather not put any kind of scoop on the hood so my question is how much clearance have you guys had with various intakes. I have an assortment of intakes for the 400ci/E head motor, just trying to find out before we go to put the motor in.

with out questions there can be no answers

I have an 81 GP w/ a 400, 6x heads and
edlebrock Performer intake with a Q-jet on it.
I have no clearance problems with either
a factory breather or the typical
14" aftermarket chrome lid w/ open air filter

Thanks; the 81 GP uses the same hood all the way up to 87. What motor mounts (on the block) did you use, 78-80 GP 301s or? Also how tall of an element are you using and is it a drop base bottom? I want to be able to use the RPM intake and at least a 4” element with a drop base. Thanks for your reply.

the ones i have done i used 74-7 frame mounts. they shoud be the same as the sbc units.

the height can be changed with the engine stand as there were 3 different stands made to my knowlege that fit this stlye of mount.

if you have 301 units they will probably work.
