Smile PONTIAC NIGHT at TUCSON DRAGWAY is Friday, June 26, 2020

Come on out and play!

PONTIAC NIGHT at TUCSON DRAGWAY
Friday, June 26, 2020

The Arizona Chapter #29 POCI in Tucson, Arizona is proud to announce Pontiac Night at Tucson Dragway!

This will be an “Open Test and Tune” event, open to anyone wishing to run their vehicle.

If you would like to race, please first become familiar with the track’s tech inspection requirements as found online at http://www.TucsonDragway.com

But, even if you’re not interested in actually pointing your Pontiac down the quarter-mile track, you’re still welcome to come out and participate in our informal Pontiac display in the pits while cheering on Dean Noun ('68 GTO) and Chris Steel ('68 GTO) plus any other Ponti-Yakkers who might want to join them at the starting line.

If you just want to DISPLAY your Pontiac or GMC Truck in the pits with us, you must tell the person at the track’s entry gate that you'd like to purchase a $15 “pit pass.” This is a PER PERSON fee ($30 for two people, etc.) and exact cash is preferred. Please plan your arrival at the track between 6:00-6:30pm on Friday, June 26th, and look for us there. We hope to have a designated row in the paved pit area dedicated solely to our group.

Racing begins at 6:00pm and goes until 10:00pm. You may stick around for as long or short as you wish. The concession stand and restrooms will be open. And of course, if it makes you feel more comfortable, you may wear a face mask... no judgements, no pressures either way!

If you have any questions about this event, please review the attached PDF flyer (click the appropriate little link below to download ... Click the "PDF" version if you want to print it, or click the JPEG thumbnail if just to view it on-screen)

Tucson Dragway is located at 12000 South Houghton Road (in southeast Tucson).
Directions: Take Interstate 10 to Exit 275, head south two miles and follow the signs towards the Pima County Fairgrounds.

And, be sure to post a reply here if you're planning to come out and play!

I would be all for it if it were an all day Saturday deal. Driving 3 hours each way for just 4 hours of racing is tough to swallow, especially on a Friday.
Otherwise I'd be there.

Sure wish these tracks (sadly the only 2 Arizona has anymore) had more classic car events like this where we could get together and do some racing, have fun and hang out. Unfortunately Wildhorse only does this once a year, it's just not enough.

Hope it works out and you guys have a good time.

I would say so. The dragstrips were still open at that point. I had emails from Tom that runs the local GTO club here about attending right up to the night before. I was just at Wildhorse not too long ago, and they still have a packed schedule.

It wasn't until this past Monday When Ducey shut down non essential business again till the end of this month

Most car events are still happening here in AZ however. I'll be attending one this evening.
