I read the whole article on MACs website.
He went by the pieces he has seen and did a fine job on the few examples he posted. Were you aware that there was a 1965 Pontiac aluminum Tri-Power intake for 1965-up engines cast up by Pontiac? One of a kind piece owned by a local collector. I have seen it it person. So I never say "It never happened" on any Pontiac Parts or it was a fabricated piece made from **** manifold. I have seen too many examples of where that assumption was wrong. Just saying sdbob. Tom V.

The casting number appears to be 523xxx possibly a 56/57 intake. Appears to be cast iron also. With the extra mounts being on the 4 pairs of intake runners, and being straight shot mostly, it would help at higher RPM I would think. I'd say the 2-4 intakes made for the SD engines would be a better choice though.

I think that carburetor linkage even has Rube Goldberg confused? It looks like the car may be right hand drive? Looks like the heater box and blower housing is in the left inner fender? The linkage comes off the firewall and operates the levers on the right side of the right carbs, then a cross rod right to left in the rear being driven from the same right bank of carbs on the inside, over to the left bank of carbs where I can't see. Would love to have some additional views of this set-up. Very creative anyway. That's a lot of carbureation given the head flow and camshafts of the day.

This whole thread reminded me of a very old Chuck Berry song "Dear Dad"
Lyrics below for your amusement. Dear Dad, don't get mad, What I'm asking for Is by the next semester Can I get another car ? This one here is sick'ning On a wide dual road. I might as well be walking As to drive this old Ford. Almost everytime I try To go and pass a truck, If I ain't goin' down hill, Dad, I'm, out of luck. And even if I get by, It's still a rugged risk, The way this old Ford Keep a hitting and a miss. Last week when I was driving On my way to school, I almost got a ticket 'Bout a freeway traffic rule. It's now a violation Driving under forty-five, And if I push to fifty, This here Ford will nosedive. Dad, I'm in great danger Out here trying to drive. The way this Ford wiggles When I'm approaching forty-five/ I have to nurse it along Like a little stubborn pup, And cars whizzing by me, Dad, look like I'm backing up. She just don't have the appetite For gas somehow, And Dad, I got four carburetors Hooked up on it now. I tried to hook another To see if I'd do a little good, But ain't no place to put it 'Less I perforate the hood. Well Dad, send the money, See what I can see, Try to find a Cadillac, A Sixty-two or three. Just something that won't worry us To keep it on the road. Sincerely, your beloved son, Henry Junior Ford Stuart |
