Default Gran Prix engine swap

Can a 3.8 engine replace a 3.1 for a 96 Gran Prix without other major changes?
Will the computer work with another engine?
Thanks

It will be a lot of problems & the computer is made for the engine thats in the car when built. It's not like the past where you could pull out one engine & put another in, they don't make them that way any more.

Thanks for the reply.
The seller has a 3.8 to go with the car purchase. I may get it, try to trade for the 3.1 to replace it. The car is in good shape
Thanks again
