Default Turbo 400 slip yoke

In need of a useable 32 spline Turbo 400 slip yoke. I believe it's the shortest one I need. I have an unusable on that would fit, it measures around 5 3/16"- 5 1/4" from the end of the barrel to the center of the U-joint bore. The barrel itself measures 4". So the critical dimension of about 1 3/16"-1 1/4" from centerline of U-joint to start of the barrel. I have purchased 2 new ones and that dimension is off. Hope someone can help me out. Thank you in advance.

Johnny

I think the short GM yoke is referred to as a 5 1/2". Haven't seen any listed shorter than that. If you must have a shorter one you may have to have some cut off the end of a 5.5" yoke.

I think you can buy a cheap Chinese 5.5 for use with several different size U-joints. I bought one for my LOW budget bracket car. Looks just fine to me. Installed with no problem. Haven't raced it yet.

But, I assume that many here will recommend a USA made yoke, for use with a 1350 series joint, so you'll never be able to break either. At least that's the type of recommendations I usually get.

Here's a cheap one, which uses the small 1310 series joint. I've used a 1310/3R conversion U-joint on several 12 sec bracket Pontiacs. Never broke one. But my homebuilt 455's made nowhere near the big power of those which are being wrote about on this forum.

This one says it has a 3 3/4" barrel & is 5 3/8" from center of joint to end of barrel. Can buy yoke & GM 3R joint from them & get free shipping.

But, these yokes may be exactly what you've already bought that won't work. Don't know. Look at the diagram on that last post & see how close that yoke is to what you need.

By my math(which may not be correct), I get a distance of 1 3/8" from the center of U-joint to the line that they say is where the barrel starts. I notice that in your pic, you actually measure from the flat part of the yoke. That small distance, subtracted from 1 3/8", MIGHT put the needed distance in the range you mentioned, AND make what you're calling the barrel length close enuff to 4". Do the math, in light of the diagram & see what you think.

Thanks for the reply yakr, but my issue is with the distance from the centerline of the U-joint and the front end of the barrel.

Yeah, looks like you'd have to shorten your shaft to use that Spicer yoke.

But, it may be worth your time to go back to the Denny's site I posted, & check the measurements of the Neapco brand yoke. I think it's MUCH closer to what you need than the Spicer yoke in your pic. They also have listings for LOTS of Spicer yokes. If you have the part number for that Spicer yoke, Denny's may have a diagram of it, showing all dimensions.
