Wow, 2 grand worth of options on a 2,700.00 car.
That colour combo is sublime. |

There are some decent videos on YouTube of cars coming in and leaving. Can hear them run on the videos that don't have music overdubbing.

There was a very nice white 72 455HO trans am parked across from my 68. Actually a pair of them, but when the white one left it smoked up the entire area. Wherever that car drove to, it needs some engine work. Really nice car though.....

We were there for the first time. Fantastic show. Nice that there were only one or two '55-'57 Chevs there. Great American Motors display, 18 winged Mopars, 12 Boss 429 Mustangs, about a dozen Willys coupes, Bullitt Mustang. A lot of Pontiac stuff. Especially liked the '69 Firebird on the lift, Verdoro Green '68 GTO pictured I previous post, Pontiac literature display. Loved the rock 'n roll band at 6:30 headed by John from Mecum.
This and Norwalk have to be the best for those of us who love Pontiacs!!

Fantastic show. We had a great time.
The Super Duty Formula came from the factory with a 350 emblem on the RH fender. It makes for great conversation with a purist discussing the proper way to restore the car. |

My son and I were there unveiling my 73 SD. We were right next to Mark and his awesome GTO. Pontiacs were very well represented this year and there were some really nice ones. We had a great weekend hanging out with some of our favorite car buddies! The car did alright too in its first showing 999/1000.

999/1000! Was there actually a demerit somewhere, or did they just not want to give you a perfect score?

I'm not much of a "show car" guy so forgive me for asking if it's not proper etiquette but what was the one point deducted for? My father-in-law had a perfect 29 Buick 46S. When he had it judged for it's Grand National award the judges screwed around for a long time trying find something wrong with the car. The "one" thing they found they were wrong about. |

This show is built around rare cars & cars that are seldom, if ever seen in shows or on public display. No clones allowed & people can't just bring any car they want. It's truly an amazing feat for Bob & crew to keep filling this arena with cars year after year, they somehow keep doing it.
As far as points, they have only given out 1000 points 3 times over 11 shows so as you get close to as nice as humanly possible, they just look closer and closer and will find something wrong at some level the owner either didn't think of, or maybe just missed. The motto is, "nothing is perfect" A good percentage of this show is made up of cars like Red Goats 73SD, and thats not a criticism by any stretch, it's a compliment to the show & its pedigree and build level of cars. Even though many of these cars are as perfect as can be, they just can't give out a perfect score or they will have to do that for many other cars & I think it would ruin the judging aspect of the show. I got deducted for scuff marks in my fuel tank & windshield washer bottle. Barely noticeable, but I couldn't argue that they existed when looked at with bright lights. I was happy with that though, because I beleive if it wasn't that, it would have been some other small thing similar. They do allow a disagreement on point deductions & will come back with other judges to hash it out if you disagree. I am guessing RedGoats point deduction was something super simple like that. A 999 is basically as good as it gets statistically at the MCACN show & something to be very proud of without question. That SD455 really is an awesome car, I would have liked to have had the opportunity to look at it closer. Was one of my favorites of the show.

GM never has or will never make perfect cars or perfect parts to build these cars, nOS or not..
It is a huge feat and sometimes and excercise in futility to achieve such honors.

Thanks to the posters that just explained what this show is about and how it is put together. It sounds to me like I should make it a bucket list for 2020 to try to attend.
