Have a decent original hairy hose, & an NOS 2nd design version. Know where two NOS hairy hoses are (with a very good Pontiac collector friend). Advised him few years back of the hairy hose's value. There seems to be several different variations of the late '70's hose, with the latest being a totally incorrect service replacement... they are what they are.

In these days when a rusted out 68 GTO core support sells for $1400 nothing surprises me.

I may have, too. I stopped using the original air cleaner and snorkel tube when I modded the engine. Went to the open element type cleaner. Now I'm going to check my 'out of the way' storage area in the spring.

Rog,

Per your picture, that would not fit my intended application.

Thank you for clarifying.

The original GM air cleaner hoses had metal fasteners not plastic.

I have the hairy hose on my Can Am...NOS...been on there since 1996. Starting to lose its color but isn't torn or threadbare yet. I might pay $250 for one but anyone asking more than that, and anyone willing to pay more than that, is out of their God damned mind.. I might pay $50 for that vinyl POS.

I gotta be honest ... I have a hairy hose and it has nothing to do with a car

You might want to trim that thing so it actually looks like a hose and not a spigot.

Fired up, a friend took a Doorman and made 2 ducts out of it, the 400 cars should have a shorter hose than a 4o3. You have to cut it and drill, and restaple. The last design was longer to cover all cars. Some say it’s a GP hose, but it’s for all. I have 1 last design w/ out a box. nOS GM. I’ll go 200 no box. Plus ship.

Original 1973-75 F body hairy hoses have 13 ribs. All of these incorrect later GM replacements have far more, hairy or not, as were intended for the GP or full size, or later F body. So no good for a concours Super Duty..

I bought two of these about 20 years ago. Put one on my 78 TA. Keep'in the other one for a spare.
