Hey guys! Wanted to get some install tips on this unit. Which side of the motor do most of you run this on? Anyone got any pics of this on their motor? Also, do you have holes in both of the valve covers and run them both to the pump? I know the pump has one input but should I join the holes in the covers first and then run 1 hose to the pump? Or just run one side of the valve cover to the pump and plug the other valve cover hole?

Thanks for the info,

Kev

if you haven't bought one yet I've seen a couple of clips onthe new ELECTRIC one from Mr. Gasket. Just wires and hoses no pulleys or brackets needed!

Thanks for the pics Bruce. Did the bracket come with the pump? Is it a Moroso piece? Did it come with the pully on the pump? If not, how did you select it?

Has anyone run these with an alt on the car? My pully on my harmonic only has one belt slot hmmm.

Skip,
You know anyone using the electric one? Im gonna look for that on the net now.

So I am under the assumption that plumming to one side of one valve cover is enough, right?

Thanks for the info,

Kev

Anyone have a part # for the Mr. Gasket electrical one? Can't seem to find anything on it.

Thanks,

Kev, the bracket I had to make to fit the head. Two piece aluminum. Wouldn't be hard to duplicate, but, the hard part is aligning it with your pulleys. You could use the Moroso mount if you had a front plate.

Pulley was with the pump. Moroso told me I'd need a small crank pulley.......They were wrong. I actually never even listened to them, since I bought a device that limits how much Hg the pump pulls. You can see it on the passenger side valve cover. I just used the Moroso 30% underdriven pulley that bolts to my ATI balancer. It has two grooves.

I run an alternator. It's just not in the pic. I use the Indian Adventures alternator mount and put it on the other side of the car.

I've just seen two different magazines mention them in their new parts sections.Looks very promising to me.

Don't know if one or both valve covers the best. Most guys seem to run the header type vacuum to both sides.

If you want to go really cheap, head down to the local wrecker and pick up the electric vac pump off a cavalier..you could even get two, one for each side. You won't pay much at all, especially at a u-pull yard.

This is what I will be doing in the spring.

Except they don't work nearly as well, the fittings and inlet/outlet holes are too small, and you have to reverse them........

Cheap way out would be to take the electric pumps off the LS1 F-bodies, as they work well and would be fairly cheap.

More free advice, from me, to you all.

Goatman,

The device in the passenger valvecover, is that the relief valve you can buy through Jeg's? What kind are you using, Moroso's? So are you saying to NOT use the mandrel drive and use a larger pulley to make more vacuum (12-14") and let the relief valve bleed off excess pressure? Where did you get your valvecovers, IA?

thanks

Yes, that is the relief valve.

The name of the company is McClintic. They are out of Texas and Warren Johnson uses their valve. That's about all I remember about it. If I had to buy one now, I'd get the Aerospace Component valve.

That's exactly what I am saying.

Valve covers came from Nunzi, as I ordered a bunch of stuff from him when I bought my cam and valve train. The valley cover is his as well. As with most things he sells, its good stuff, just alot of $. The valley pan was twice to three times what everyone else's is. I guess I shoulda asked before I told him to "just semd me one"!

Hey Guys. Can't seem to locate any info on the mr. gasket unit. Anyone know the part # of the LS1 pump mentioned by Bruce? I may look into that. Seems like it would be easier to use the electric type pump.

Thanks for the info,

Kev
