Again, the price you may pay for not having the protection is worth a little sweat, in my book.
But, you know, that's just another typical Goatman response. Chance favors the prepared mind. |

Man years ago when I bought a new bike, when shopping for a helmet, the salesman (and an old friend) said, "got a hundred dollar head? then get a hundred dollar helmet!". Makes sense. That was in the early 80's. That Bell helmet I bought saved me a number of times, once on the bike and several times snowmobiling. It was a full face helmet. Didn't pass tech a couple years ago as it was out of date. My new Shoie was purchased at a motorcycle shop. I tried on several before I found one that fit comfortably and was the latest certification. I would not buy one over the net. And you bet it's a full face helmet...I do not want to kiss my steering wheel. It was less than $300.

Dennis Kirk sells alot of helmets. I bought a Bell full face Snell 2000 for a little over $200.

Agree that M is for motorcycles and SA for autos.
Personal opinion is that I would rather see an up to date M helmet on a racer vs an outdated SA helmet. Quote: "13.99 - 7.50 sec. cars must wear a snell or SFI, approved helmet. For ET cars the approved numbers are,,,,Snell 90, 95, K98, 2000, or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A specs...//... Open bodied, supercharged, front engine cars Spec. Snell SA90, SA95, SA2000, or SFI Spec.31.1A, 31.2A...///...SFI31.1A, = Snell SA helmets, are open face,,,SFI 31.2A = Snell SA full face...///...SFI 41.1A = Snell M, open face. SFI 41.2A = Snell M, full face..all good to 7.50 secs..//..7.50 and quicker Snell SA 95 & 2000 or SFI 31.2A.." Looks like the SA and M helmets are both NHRA approved for racing. Tom V.

Yes Tom, they are. So much for the 15 year NHRA tech.
I guess I'll give the helmet away with the GTO, since the new car will have to be SA95. Chance favors the prepared mind. |
