Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to order the new Fuel Line that runs from the Fuel Pump to the Carb, and I am wondering if anyone has used the Right Stuff FPC7021 line? It says it is for the 1970 Trans Am RA III with "Late Pump", which I assume is the "big can" pump they are talking about. We ordered the Spectra SP1304MP fuel pump, which shows to be the "big can" factory replacement. So, I'm assuming this would be the correct line and pump to run together? Ive also seen Inline Tube makes them as well, but the lines I have seen from them, say they run on the Drivers Side of the thermostat housing. Everything that I can find out, says it should run on the Passenger Side of the thermostat housing in a 1970 RA III Trans Am. The Right Stuff line doesn't really say anything about which side it runs on, it just says for "Late pump". Anyone have any experience with the Pump to Carb lines for the 1970 Trans Am and "big can" pump?

Stupid question but what is the advantage to the larger pump?

I guess it holds more fuel being since it has a bigger can. Probably the biggest factor being, it is the exact factory replacement for the 1970-71 Trans Am, for restoration and factory look

The 70-71 4bbl fuel pump was specific to F-car......and every repop line I've bought...is bent for the A and B body pump....which has the feed lines in a different positions.

The fuel pump with can acts as a small reservoir.....which helps to keep up to fuel demand at WOT......They DO make a difference

We just dealt with installing a new fuel pump and line to the carb on our '70Formula 400 with the YZ RAIII motor. The deep pump we got from CARQUEST and is the only one they could get for the '71 up 4-bbl A & F application. The original pump to carb fuel line was cut up, but we had a proper '70 fuel line handy. We had to bend the bottom connection about 45 degrees (very carefully) and replace the rubber return lines with longer pieces to fit.

I included pics of a '71 455HO fuel line this has a long straight portion into the carb that is technically over the passenger side of the thermostat housing. You can see the different T-stat housings between the '70 and '71 model years. The '70 fuel line, as you know, snakes around the T-stat housing on the passenger side.

Thank You, we went ahead and ordered the FN327 Pump to Carb line from Ames. Another member here stated if you use the factory style "large can" 1970-71 pump and a factory style Qjet, that line is a direct bolt on for the 1970 Firebird, so I hope it works out!
