Good eye on the master Mike. Good thing you guys blocked out the plate with your finger in the photos, only to show it in the video. Lol

Looks like a keeper! Being originally Adriatic blue, top & bottom, I'd auggest getting rid of the vinyl top & hope for the best. If your friend is lucky, the roof has survived without any rust scaling. Earlier this year, one of my older bodyman friends & I were sharing experiences about '70's aftermarket vinyl top installs & it is his longtime opinion that something in the glue used back then promoted formation of rust on the surface of the metal underneath. Have ran across this exact situation numerous times on parts & project cars with aftermarket vinyl tops, all of which were from relatively drySW climates. quite a few were low mile garaged cars & after vinyl top removql, had deep rust pocks on the surface of the A-pillars & C-pillars.

Ya I’m totally aware that I did that.

The tow truck showed up five minutes after we did, so if I wanted to document it leaving it’s 20 year testing space (with the leaves and the moss and the tire indentations in the pavement) I needed to get the video ASAP.

The new owner washed it today. I’ll be posting some cleaner pix later tonight.

Thumbs up

Lookin' good! Thanks AkCamaro for posting this awesome find. Could you get a couple pics of the underhood light and how it grounds? My 72 HO Formula is missing the light, but the blue connector is there like I see in your picture. Does it have 2 wires or 1?
Also get a shot of the heat riser shroud on the driver side exhaust manifold.
Thanks! Keep the pics coming.

Holy Shet !
Congrats and Jealousy to your friend on getting this car .

Speedo doesn't look turned over to me.
Brake pedal looks great other than some typical sloppy shoe dirt.

Appears more like a car that was real well kept most of its life - then got shoved outside and sat for 7-12 years - unappreciated / neglected.
Bound to be a heck of a story with the car - if its all known.

45 year old car.
Master's can go bad with time - versus miles. Especially on a car that doesn't get driven as much.
Same for a radiator hose and clamp.
In the 70's and 80's most common folks purposely disposed of tower clamps.
Didn't take much corrosion to make them a real pain to remove - and usually ruined in process.

It may well be original miles.
Either way - one super he|| of a car to find.
Loaded like a Brass Hat / Zone Exec car too.

my comment on the brake pedal is based on the fact that whoever drove the car was a right foot braker. lf you look at the right side and compare it to the left side you will see that the lines are straight thru with not really any wear on the left side but on the right side the lines are totally worn off. this wont happen in 6k miles.
HOWEVER, I AM NOT KNOCKING THE CAR. I LOVE IT.
I have owned several 71 and 72 HO formulas and loved every one of them. this one is really a great color which I have not seen before.

Notice the 455HO air cleaner decal. I have been told by numerous people that they didn't come on F bodies. Funny that almost all have it.

They came on 72's. I posted the original assembly manual page that documented its installation on F-bodies, somewhere in my black car thread, years ago. I also posted the original owner photo of the air cleaner lid with the decal on it.

I think the car in question has turned over.

72 455 HO Formula loaded, unmolested in a great color combo from Alaska! Very cool and no pun intended....

Mileage is closer to 6k than a turnover. iMHO...that's all there is are humble opinions on that aspect.

It’s a 400/4 speed TA, with a vinyl roof. It was his priority before he got this HO. It was originally a Buc Red car I believe. It’s kinda rough, but savable.

I think the car in question has turned over.
Concerning the mileage, from my perception the 6,823 is correct. BUT, Sky (that’s my buddy who bought it) hasn’t confirmed the mileage with the owner. The owner, (the daughter of the woman who originally bought it), is in poor health and in the hospital. Sky has been trying to buy this car for six years. It’s never been listed, he just heard about it, then after a few years finally figured out where it was and tracked it down and pursued an amiable relationship with the owner. So when they decided to let go of it they gave him a price and he happily paid it.
It’s “possible” that the mileage is not correct, but I HIGHLY doubt it. My Alaskan 73 TA has 34,000 miles and was rougher. My Alaskan 70 SS 396 camaro has 80,000 miles with original paint and is rougher.
For this car to go 100,000 miles, in Alaska, which was all dirt roads in the 70/80s, and not ever slide into a ditch or a curb or hit a stop sign.... it’s impossible.
Cars don’t Rust to bad up here (unless you are right next to the ocean), but they do get battered.
