Not sure I want to go into a lot but detail but to be safe the Hi-port will have a more reliable valvetrain and has the best I/E ratio. I'm sure all three heads would have a ton of power potential.

I'm actually looking for a pair of heads for my turbo car...So if you cant go into detail, who would you recommend that would?

If you're considering using one of these three heads for your build, the Hi-port will be your best choice for your build. I doubt any of these three examples have been set-up for a power adder application.

I agree... Hi-ports will be your best option... PP's are expensive to build and tigers are not that power adder friendly.....from my personal experience..

What makes the hi port the better choice? Do all three have comparable deck thickness? Material thickness in the valve train area?

I went with the Northwind to run it under a flat hood on a 74 T/A with a shaker scoop. The plan is to bust some unsuspecting chebby butt at the local drag strip, or anywhere I take it.

I hope he wasn't going for max port..... I'm a fan of Dave as he has made big power for me for 20 years.... he took my 406 from 12.20's to 11.20's for $800 in 97.. then to 10's at 3150 lbs with a hyd. Roller.. If he went for max power, 414 isn't there.... ?? Then 6.40's with a shoe string budget... Last edited by Scott Roberts; 01-07-2020 at 11:20 PM. |

The pro ports arent available anymore so those are eliminated, the Tiger heads are nice but cost more and in a turbo build i doubt they're worth the added expense. The HP heads are by far the cheaper option and paired with a turbo will make HUGE power.

I got to say that for a high heat Exh motor like a turbo set up I would want a Exh port lay out like a RAV head and such.

Brian,
That is interesting. I have never worked on a head where the throat was not smaller than the valve. Stan
