The great thing about it is that you don't have to cringe when you take the car out in the world. A ding in a parking lot or a rock chip does not have the same level of 'Doh!' & you can enjoy the car for what it is a lot more IMO. It is a nice one!

gregneun, i love the color of your car. very close to what i have in mind for mine. i was going to take my gp for an estimate tonight but its raining. can't keep it in black primer forever. i probably should change the engine before i get it painted. you know it will get scratched.

Default Hello walrus

I'm trying to help on the mirror question too, but with job family and the POCI thing coming up I seem to be busier than a 1 legged man in a$$ kicking contest.

I did the motor before the paint. But I screwed up plenty of things along the way. It's been 3 years now. I will get the PPG color. For now, go to www.autocolorlibray.com and check out the paint chips. put in your year and make.

The marimba red looks good on that car, but everybody else probably thinks so too, so I am prepared for that.

Let me know about the interior. If your going original I may be able to help. Also, the guy I mentioned before has black interior parts. Let me know and good luck.

Check out the original paint codes, on the tag under the hood. It should also tell the trim level.

I've got extra blinkers and crap, an AM radio, others.

Greg

Well, its been a tough spring and start of summer around here. Since I fell in my driveway and broke my kneecap the first of May my Cats have been neglected. The convert was all shined up and ready to go to a show the upcoming weekend. The sedan is still in storage with 2 flat tires. I was planning on getting it out the next week.

Now, I really don't know when I'll be able to enjoy the cars. I'm still rehabing from the surgery. I just got out of the cast like brace. Still having to use a walker to get around and it has my back screwed up. It is hard to get in and out of a vehicle and the rough part is that it is my driving leg! The neuropathy that is so bad in my feet has moved up into the knee now so that is affecting the recovery too. Nothing they can do for that except the pain meds that I am already on.

It is ashamed that no one is able to enjoy these cars this summer. Especially the convert. I priced the cars as a package deal last week, but then I found out it was a dealer and he said wanted me to cut my price just a little. I told him I had cut it to the bone by packaging the cars take it or leave it. In today's market, I'm not giving away such quality cars to a dealer when ther is no way I could replace them without paying 10-15k more.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my vent, and have a great summer enjoying those Big Ponchos!

Wow. I am very sorry to hear that. Hold out as long as possible. As my neighbor said to me, "Man, those are cars you can just sit & stare at for hours. Its almost as good as driving them." Hold out to the last. For me they are the best things in life whether I am driving them or just looking at them.

Here's hoping for a complete recovery.

Bruce

Oh my. I need to think about selling this wagon and putting away for another 65 Catalina. I think I am getting the fever.

Nice looking car, I'm quickly becoming a fan of the "big cars" although I have a newbie question....how does a Ventura differ from a Cat?

Initially, the Ventura was a trim package added to the Catalina. It had an interior upgrade, and additional emblems. I believe by the late 60's it had become a its own model. Physically they're the same car.

That is a beauty. Show us some more!

Black is the best on these big 'uns. My mother was just at the beach on the 4th at a parade, & brought me back a Pic of a 2 door '65 Bonne black w/black vinyl top. It's a killer. I will try & scan it to get a decent Pic to share. I am going to have a hard time going back on my '66 with white vinyl on a black car. I have never seen that combo on any other car, so I will have to stick with it.

Beautiful!
I was thinking of changing the color of my 65, seeing yours convinces me it should stay black.

Thanks guys! Believe me the picture makes the paint look alot better than it is, this winters project is to address all rust spots, put a new trunk pan in if I can find on, and paint her! here's a few more pics.

It's been busy spring and summer. I've been wanting to snap a few pics of the convertible. Hopefully will have more time to partake in the forum.

Jeff,

Well, this really sucks because my wife has the British car show on Saturday and my Dad's birthday on Sunday (going to Lake Erie). I may take a day off and go to Norwalk on Friday.

Ron
