/\ two questions:
1) when did it sell?
2) what brought it that high?

Looks to be a 1978 based on the shaker, and I see the wrong caps - so odds are this was a celebrity's car....

weird.
I read the brochure, it reads as though his cars as something spectacular - maybe the hype between it being one of his cars pushed it that high...
I believe most '77 TA's used the "short" shaker, and undoubtedly the center caps in the picture are wrong...
That one makes absolutely zero sense... unless second gen Firebirds are going up again...

Chris, I'm down here and looked at that car. It isn't a 72. It has a 70 vin, 70 seats, 62 heads, no data tag, etc, etc, etc. It is a cobbled together car. I don't understand how that ran through the auction as a 1972.

Well, that's first hand information. Yet, results stand as facts...

Oh, it was a ‘70...No wonder it sold so cheap. I may sell my Y88 and buy two or three ‘70’s.

Too Funny,

Thought that it brought fair money for the condition. I am surprised as someone could dispute that it is not as advertised. I looked for the data tag to find out if it was a code 26 car and even that was missing.

I see several details that are off, in addition to the filthy interior.

Somebody is betting on a survivor upswing for 2nd Gens here with this sale. Impeccable condition aside, I can think of a lot of cars I could buy with 30K that are more interesting than this 17-seconds-in-the-quarter 301 auto. Truly to each their own.

These numbers are amazing! Even with the reality factored into it.

It's happening...

I always assumed the glass in my '70 was aftermarket. Until the question came up earlier..
