Who has the best weatherstrip today?
I'm looking to replace my roof rail weatherstrip on the '67 GTO. A search here brought up 40 or so threads in the street and body forums, but the latest was 2009. Either my searching sucks or we haven't talked about it for awhile.
Back then Steele seemed to be the best, but with it so much more expensive I'd rather spend the additional money for go-fast parts. Steele wants $176.49 for the roof rail weatherstrip on their website. Seems like the old posts found Softseal ($60.99) to not last very long before tearing, and Metro ($49.99) to be a little hard. The new player that Rock Auto and Summit carries is Fairchild Industries ($48.99) that I really can't find comments on. Ames carries an unidentified product at $59.00 - anyone know who makes it? Can anyone give an update on the products and what you have had good luck with?

Steele Rubber, never had an issue on 4 cars now. Metro doors were ok but didn't last long in the SoCal sun. Softseal was hard as a rock and never fit really well for their trunk seals I used.

Guess I'm just cheap, but the $176 Steele wants will by three sets of the others and I would still have enough money left over for a burger, fries, and a drink.
We just installed Soft Seal on a friends '67 GTO last month and nothing has changed, it's hard as a rock and you really have to wallop the doors closed. Was hoping that I might get a recent report on what Ames carries, Metro, or the Fairchild brands.

Anyone heard of Precision? Ordered up a new window seal for my '57 and that is what came, never heard of them.
This is a cross post but wondering what I am in for.

Where did you order from? I'm about to go through this with my '58. I'll be curious to see what your thoughts are with the product. Paying 3X as much is a hard pill to swallow. Our car will be garage kept anyway, so I don't need to worry much about degradation in the sun.

Welcome to the Forums '58 guy. PM sent.
I will issue a full report...actually the seal is fine but the stainless trim is popping loose & I am told that the window will need to come out. Guessing that NFW will the rubber be re usable!!

I did the trunk in my 67 with something from Eklers or something. Don't remember the brand but it leaked. Re did it with a Soff Seal brand from Ebay with better results.
