Default I'm going with dog dish/poverty caps. Have ?

I currently have 18x10 rims on my 69 firebird on the rear and 18x8 on the front. Tire choices suck!! So I'm gonna go the exact opposite and put on plain gm rims and dog dish caps. I also have 12 inch rotors so I got a hold of some 70 z 28 rims and mounted them on the axle. I have about a 1/4 or so space around the caliper, I would think that's enough? Thoughts? I would like to run 15x8 with 4 1/4 bs, and 15x6 with 3 bs on the front. So my front spacing on the rear is 4 " I would be going to 3 3/4 fs on a 15x8. A certain brand of 18" tire rubs the outer edge a smidge. Anyone gone this route before? Will I have enough room on the outer edge? I've had 15x7 with 235/60/15 all the way around with no issues of rubbing at all. FWIW Thanks I got a headache

I was running '78 B-body spindles with 12" rotors and the factory single-piston calipers with 15X7" Rally II wheels for a little while before I went to a custom-built set of 17X8" steel wheels and poverty caps on my Tempest.

No problems on caliper clearance, 1/4" is more than plenty. Remember that GM ran 15" steel wheels on the late '70s B-body cars with 12" heavy-duty front disc brake option, common on station wagons.

Good info!!! M H has a 275/60 I'd like to mount on a 15x8 rim but not quite sure they'll fit.

No matter what rim you put on if it will go on & not hit while you turn the rim on the hub it's ok. The rim NEVER changes the diameter unless you hit a pot hole & bend it. LOL. So any rim that bolts on & turns has more then enough clearance.

So back to this...the 15" wheel vintques did not fit. I have to go 17". The 62 series is what I'm looking at. I've read conflicting reports about the dog dishes fitting on these rims, anybody know the real deal? Any info before I buy the 17.s?

I;m tired of cleaning these rims!!! I'm probably the only car guy who does not like cleaning his car.

I have 15 inch rims on my car with 2000 Trams am brakes. I had to put a 1/2 spacer with my 3.5 inch rim to clear that caliper. I have weld wheels with the adapters for Dog dish caps. I think if I used the Cobra pbr smaller caliper it would have fit with out the spacer. It is not the 15 inch that did not clear it was where the rim cuts in towards the back.

The Series 62 is a replica of the OE 14 and 15" rims. It has the three nubs on the center rim to retain the hubcap.

I'm looking at converting from my current 15's to 17's using this rim.

The photo below is from Summit of an actual 17" WV Series 62.

The photo below is of a WV 17" Series 12 (Smoothie) - which does not have the three nubs - and won't allow the use of a poverty cap.

JS I spent a wad of cash on wilwoods, the 15" wv would not clear the caliper.

Champ thank you got it.
