Here's a photo of the seat mount taken years ago when I removed the power bench seat. Getting ready to put it back in and I'm wondering what is the purpose of the metal plate. I'll put it back, just wondering what it does.

it keeps the carpet out of the seat track and greasy marks on the rug .... in the down n back position
