That would be a trip. I've never heard of Satsop but I've been to Aberdeen before as a kid. I grew up in Seattle. So about a 90 minute ride to Sea-Tac and then a 6 hour flight. The airport is right across the street from the speedway. If they'd let you, you could get off the plane and hop the fence LOL!!!!!!!

We are on the East Fork of the Satsop about 25 miles NE of Aberdeen. If I were to go I would bring a car.

Thanks Tommy. It was nice to meet you and your wife last night.

Folks, Tommy's 61 is a piece of art. I should have a couple pics of it when I get home. I've never seen that color and it is phenomenal.

I think it was bigger than last year? Had a great time. Did you get to see the 69 TA Conv at the Mecum Trailer? Didnt find much Pontiac goodies in the swap meet. Nice parking with you guys, I thought there would be more cars from the club there, but people have their priorities. Why they are not at the biggest show in the Southeast, I dont know! Hope to catch more of you next year! ; )

I had a great time as usual. The ole Cat did real well over the weekend. I for sure need to get some Poncho power under the hood. I will be working on that over the winter spring. My son took most all the pictures but here are a few of mine.
Unloaded and ready to go.

Found this guy as we pulled in on Thursday. When we came back he had moved. I guess he was afraid the rust was contagious or something, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always wanted to get a shot like this with a car.

I'll post up more when my son sends them to me. He got some incredible shots of Tommy's 61.

Hitman,
Glad you got home safely, we got back to Va. Monday afternoon late. It was a good time in Daytona even if it was crowded. Quit knocking the Cat, that thing looks tuff.
Take care and thanks for the kind words about my car. (Too kind)

I have been going for decades. Ted where were you parked? I was over with the Pontiac parking in turn 4 by the tunnel. I had the Plum Mist 67 GTO there instead of my 69 Firebird I had at the Fernandina show. Last year I had the Verdoro Green 67 Firebird there.

Something my son and I noticed is the number of "top shelf" builds seemed to be far and few between this year. Lots of nice drivers and a lot of just drivers. There did not seem to be as many real high end builds there this year. It definitely seemed like there were more cars and people than ever.

Oh. I forgot to mention I did buy a Pontiac in the car corral. Picked up this 78 Formula. It has 69,000 original miles. This is NOT a collector car. It is a wolf in sheeps clothing!

Saturday I was parked at turn 4. I mostly walked through the swap meet all day. I was parked next to Matt in his 68 Firebird 400. I then went to the Belaire Plaza and checked it out. I did talk to Gary , but none of his cars were there.

WOW, that's a GREAT photo of your car on the beach side.
I plan on being in Daytona the week of thanksgiving but not with the GTO, to far a trip from Syracuse NY, but I will be coming down with my new car and I hope to remember your photo and to do the same with my new car.

I have only missed one since 1990. The old car parade is not as good as it use to be. The old large cars seem to have disappeared. Maybe from them raising the year to enter. The snobs must not have liked it! It starts on Highway 40 after you go over the bridge for the intercoastal waterway. It goes about 6 blocks to A1A and goes south for a ways. After the parade go south on A1A to the Belair plaza across from the host hotel the La Plaza. It will take 1 1/2 to 2 days to see the swap meet. The car corral is 2/3 thousand car I hear. It is a show in it's self

I spent the day with my boys on Saturday. These guys love going as much as I do.

Sixty8ragtop, I believe this one is your 2+2, The turquoise 2+2 was beautiful as well. You guys inspire me to want to pull mine out of mothballs and get it done.

I was parked next to the 2+2. That car was pretty rough when he started, beautiful car! I parked and mainly went through the swap meet and car corral. Think I walked 13 miles on Friday, and 10 on Saturday.

Default turkey rod run

Ted Ram Air II, thanks for the complement on my Reef Turquoise '65 2+2. This was my first trip to this event, and I really enjoyed it. Met many very nice folks like Ted, Gary H, Lou F, etc., and appreciated being able to get a parking pass in the reserved area provided by Dixie Chapter of POCI. I attended Cruisin The Coast the past 3 years, but decided to do something different for 2016 by signing up for Turkey Run. Had fun walking around in my compete Smokey Yunick mechanic uniform(complete with black Stetson) that my friend Jennie helped make for me. Actually had a few folks who "recognized me" and commented.
