Welcome! Are you a new owner? If not I know of a laurentian green gt-37 owned by Ron Johnson of Potomac Pontiacs...

Welcome to the forum!
Reads like evidence towards another 455HO GT-37, not Ron's. Interested to read any info from the invoice copy...shows what color of green? Vinyl upgrade (trim code 238 sandalwood) or parody cloth & vinyl 237 sandalwood interior?

Welcome SD455XD! That would make a great story if that car is still around and you could find the owner. It's a shot in the dark but since you have the VIN, maybe shoot Jim Matteson at PHS an email about the story on the motor, he may know who requested PHS docs on the car in the past.
Grew up in Blue Island myself and wish I could remember this beast! The former Borek Pontiac dealership (then Napelton Pontiac, then Montell Pontiac) was torn down about 15 years ago but was known for selling Firebirds, Formulas and TA's to high schoolers in the area.

Thanks for posting the PHS. Looks like someone wanted a go-fast car!
Roger, with that 2/2/71 ship date that would be a 71 GT-37 vs. a 71 1/2 correct?

Very rare example, would be awesome if this GT-37 is still out there! Thanks for posting the invoice copy.

Thanks for the dealer info, I had never heard of Borek Motors but had done some work for Montell way back in the day.
I have searched with all local, state law enforcement and have come up empty. You never know. Thanks for all the help! |

Early stripe Lauretian Green 455 HO GT-37...anyone know for sure not Ron Johnsons car or just similar. Not many built as we know.
Very cool! Thanx for posting the phs and doing the detective work. Mine has a few more options like 4 speed, carpet, radio and hood lamp...built around same time for trip to Canada...

I see that now. thanks Roger.
There is some confusion also on my part. Ron has a GT-37? He told me about it a few years ago...at that time I thought he said it was a TL 4 speed. At TA Nats he said LG manual.... Now I am not sure what he has? I bet Roger knows as he is the expert on these?

Maybe, once delivered, this GT-37 was getting some 4.10's & a spool, some good axles & some tall slicks? Wouldn't be the first barebones HD 3spd car that was getting a different type of transmission in it, too. Would be real interesting to know who originally ordered it & if plans were for such mods & it was going to be raced. Just thinking out loud...

Try this - mark the form "K" for your own records - request a registration history and a title history. You never know what might come back:

So this would be the two-color eyebrow stripe on Tropical Lime GT-37...how cool is that? Dennis |

That's very cool!
Old cars can be found - hope you find it!

Not sure anyone has a database. But, seems so far all 455 HO GT-37 have been early stripe cars?
