Going over my main bearings the front main (no.1) has a little wear on the top half, had some brass color showing. Called King Bearing sent them pics to get their opinion. They said it’s wearing a little probably because if the yank on the crank from the blower but not a biggie. So because I have it apart I will probably replace no.1 main bearing. They said it would have been good another year easily!

Yes they (hemi heads) were there but not a whole lot to see different, KRE did have the valve train set up there but they were still waiting on some parts. They did say it should be up and running by April-ish! I’m going back next weekend to pick up my block and parts. I’m also going to ship my carbs to AED to have them reworked.

I picked up my block at KRE, while I was there they were honing a spare block/engine for Tommy Youmans (the Quickest and Fastest Pontiac door car).....just incase. Got my block home put it on my engine stand, then I ordered a set of King main bearings (STDX), I'm going to replace the top half only (for no.1 main), the bottom was good. I want to be able to drop my crank in.......a 4 car garage and never enough room! LOL! Small steps but its getting there. Also I'm getting my wife engine ready for her Trans Am......... went from a .030 over 400 (its for sale) to a .060 over 421........a 1/4" stroke should give that TA with a Blower a tad bit more GRUNT!

So I'm waiting on my NEW Ross pistons I'm thinking.......and I hate doing that BUT they are going to be a little larger .01, I'm wondering on the weight increase and if I have to have my crank rebalance......? Ill weigh them who i get them and compare to the old pistons.

Along with waiting on my pistons I'm working on my 3 gal fuel cell. Now it takes me around 3.5 gal (min) of alky to drive to the staging lanes make a pass and drive it back, obviously my 3 gal fuel cell isn't enough (absolutely no room for a larger fuel cell). So a while back ago i bought a Cruz Pro F60 fuel gauge......it basically does everything. Now all i needed was an alky friendly fuel level sending unit that would fit on top of my 3 gal fuel cell (not easy). I finally found one at Radiumauto.com.....cool, all i need to do is reconfigure my fuel cell lines which i can't do because the holes are drilled and it is what it is! I was able to buy a 3 gal fuel cell blank (no holes) at JAZ, now all i need to do is drill the holes (fuel fill hole, regulator return line, vent line and the fill line coming from my rear fuel cell) where i need them and I'm all set. What will happen now is when my fuel level get to a certain level (set by me) it will refill from the fuel cell (5 gal) in the trunk automatically and I will also be able to tell the amount of fuel in my cell in case I want to fill it from the drivers compartment.

While I’m working on my fuel cell I decided to check out different head studs since I’m going to buy a set anyways. I found some A1 Technology 1/2” studs for a good price and they are rated higher then the normal ARP 8740 studs (190,000 psi), they are rated the same (215,000+ psi) if not a tad better as the ARP2000 studs (220,000 psi).

Too continue on with the stud thing I always thought that the ARP 8740 where sh_t studs and always wanted better. I didn’t like the idea of going to 9/16” studs and if I had my ways I’d have a better stud for a Pontiac race engine. I tried once but couldn’t get enough racers to get on board (the more studs made, the cheaper they are). If I was starting from the get go i’d have 14mm studs in my engine......all kinds of choices then......the junk jap engines have all the good stuff! LOL!

Now I can start reassembling my engine!!

Got my A1 technology heads studs in the mail today.....they are a little long but looks like they will work. They are like a ARP2000 stud in strength.
