Default Got a 70 Formula

Was scanning craigslist yesterday just after lunch. Saw an add for a 70 Formula, clicked on it and in the description it listed a 3 speed trans. looking further at the pictures it looked rough and had the wrong hood on it but called the guy anyway. Yep ,3 speed, second owner, had it 35 years. used to have 455 in it but now has this 400.
So I tell him I would like to come look at it. Get there and it is pretty rough. Needs entire rear clip. Had a vinyl top on it at one time, and it was not kind to the car. Yes it is the original trans.
Ok its a cool car I could use the engine for my 55 GMC build. Make the deal and get the car. Check and find its a pretty rare option car. will post some pics when I get it home.

Pat, if you ever remove the trans. I'm sure a few people will be interested in pictures and casting numbers of the components and shifter.

I recommend you run the PHS before doing anything with the car, out of the 689 Ram Air III formula's, 15 of them came with the M13 3 speed manual trans. You never know!!!

Agree with HFR and eaglesan13.

Would be nice to get more info on it.
(cowl tag info, paint color etc)

Congrats on getting it.
If it is a 3 speed Formula, there are 2 on PY that have one I believe.

Just got the car home and looked at it good. And all I can say is its rough, Vin 226870n1 looks like 70 formula. Correct? Cowl tag is ST 70 22387 nor 726427 bdy
TR 208 51 51 pnt
C4B W66

Car is Dark Blue with black High back seats has fiberglass hood that the PO cut off the snorkels to put a scoop in the center for carb clearance. underside has round holes with wire mesh covering them. looks like the correct stuff. Really sad about the condition of this car. Started it up and loaded on the trailer. drove it down the road, drove great strong motor, shifts nice. But did I mention how rough it is? oh well now for the decisions. Advice anyone.
I like this small window car better than my 76 formula.

PO said this is not the original engine. Engine is YX with #12 heads. block casting is 481988 but I didn't look at the date code. It also has a Holley Street Dominator intake and holley carb on it. The yellow is visible all around the car. It does have the 12 bolt.

are the #12 heads dated prior to April of '70?
The gauges/tach were an option for Formula and could have been ordered on standard 400 or RAIII.

WOW!
Owner of a '70 L78/M13 Formula checking in!

It took me the better part of twenty years (no jokes) to get the correct transmission and shifter formy car - to this date I have not seen the reverse rod (linkage), but the original three speed switch is still here...

I would very much appreciate you considering me if you did a part out;
and if you decide to ressurect it, I'll help if I can.

There was one L74/M13 Formula in HPP many years ago, and I saw one L78/M13 Formula go on ebay about a decade ago (parts car)...

This is what my car looked like the day after I bought it in 1995;

well, if you do decide to part, I would like opportunity to but the transmission, shifter, shift linkage, reverse light switch, and maybe even the driveshaft (my current driveshaft has the one end for my 12 bolt, and an input shaft for my M22).

There a recieving company in Montana that I deal with for bigger crap.

Does your car have the black shift ball?
