Default Bodywork sort of question

I have a friend that is converting an ambulance to a camper for racing ... box type truck, big diesel, dualies ... all that. Anyway, he wants to add an RV type door to the side of the box ... what type of place would perform that kind of work? A "Coachworks" ?

I told him I could do it as a last resort ( I have a metal shop) ... but I've never cut into one of these things, walls about 3" thick, aluminum skin, probably rigid insulation, fiberboard paneling. No idea what to expect as far as bracing, wiring etc.

Don't do it at your shop ....

The body is certified as designed and manufactured.

If you or your shop modifies it - you are liable for any claims directly
or indirectly related to anyone who owns it ....

Pretty sure the certification is out the window since it's been modified to be a camper. It's a 20 year old vehicle that has already seen it's share of modifications.
