Default 71 firebird gas pedal vs a 1972 firebird pedal

removing a gas pedal and accelerator cable from a 1971 firebird ,cant seem to get it off , any advice

also can i use this on my 72 formula

the 71 is a 4 speed car

the steel ROD that accepts the pedal on one end & the throttle cable at the top is not the same between '71 & '72 Firebirds.

71 4bbl F throttle cable is different than '72 4bbl throttle cable.

the plastic pedal is the same.

thats what i thought the 71 does not have a slot at the top of rod
how do i get the cable out

Pop out the plastic retainer grommet and slide it off the cable. Then pull the cable through the hole on the gas pedal arm.
