Default Performance update

Well, still moving the chains bit by bit.

Nothing much good with this particular slip as I was spinning out of the hole but it is what it is.

Very nice. If you could get 50lbs out of it, you'd be close to a 10.99.

Hey Mike, there is a 10.?? in there I am sure. A little better 60' time will do the trick, IMHO. Keep up the good work.

I think it was there for the taking, unfortunately the track and my worn out tires wouldn’t allow it

Either get the 1.50 60foot, with off-idle launch technique ( to let the converter multiply TQ) maybe a deep stage?

or practice shift 1-2 & 2-3 earlier in rpm ( like 5200-5300)

get the 123 MPH by getting into 3rd sooner, and manage the air getting into the Carb (no air filter, 1050 Carb, anything to get the 123 mph)

improving the 60ft will get you well into the 10s. a set of slicks or (sticky) tires will do the trick

Good et for the weight. New tires for sure will help. Once you have full traction you can play with launch technique and or tune to whittle the 60 foot down.

The car normally 60’s in the 1.53-1.54 range with some degree of traction

Not in the cards that particular time out. Always a hill to climb!

Anyone try these yet .... looks like a new tire from Mickey:

https://mickeythompsontires.com/drag...street-r#sizes

The old ET street in a radial now?

Could be a winner...

I run 255/60-15 Street R on my 68. Usually 17-19 lbs. Not as good as good as my old 9x14x28 ET Drags but I wanted to try something different. They don't hold torque on launch like slicks did, and not as consistent. I won't drive them on the street. But my 65 Tempest 400/4sp loves them. A lot of racers up here are running MT Street SS both to the track and on it.

Thanks....guess I’ll stick with the Pro’s then

I wanted to try the 275 R tires but with the car sitting as low as it does clearance is an issue. Ended up using the Hoosier 275 DR as it’s a little shorter and still has a full 10” tread. These are my first drag radial and there’s not enough use yet to get a real feel for them but I like them so far. Drive much better and smoother than the bias Hoosier QTP’s on the street too.

Yeah, tried those Hoosiers a long time ago .... they seemed to be very good

The Mickey ET Street Radial Pro’s are what I’ve been running for 6 seasons. They have been excellent. They are ungodly heavy tho and I’m almost ready to go back to a dedicated slick..... torn

I don’t run drag radials on the street anymore as they only last a year or so.

Below is my cruise mode tire setup. The dang cobras are actually decent as long as I’m in second gear or higher and above 45mph believe it or not........

Very nice car. I would think you need a 10" tread for that motor to hook. You mention the weight of the tires, from what I can see in the pic are they mounted on steelies? A lighter wheel would save some weight, don't know if it'd make a difference but your so close to 10's.

I can almost hook on the street with the et pros after a burnout..but they wear quick.
