Default W62 - 64 GTO, California born / sold

Very cool 64 in Silvermist Gray on Black with full tinted glass.

Very late build. California K24 / 614 Option.
4BBL. 4 Speed, posi.

Supposedly bought new by a professor at UCLA.

This car would look very nice dialed in.

Chris.

Money was more than fair if there wasn't a shill bidder (which I'm sure there was). Owner should have taken it - https://www.ebay.com/itm/233306174904

If someone wanted to overpay they could just pay the 35 grand - https://barnfinds.com/original-and-r...4-pontiac-gto/

Looks like something Bart (b-man) would drive.

Just wondering what all of you guys think about the price and I appreciate and want your opinions. Let's hear it please.

I'll start, I think somewhere between 28,000 and 32,000 would be a fair price. (Although I'd like a better look at the passenger quarter)

Gary,

The seller told me 30K.

It has 120,000 miles, so hard to say what condition the engine and 4spd is in?
You would need to verify codes and dates on the block, heads, intake etc.

Trunk looks pretty good. Doesn’t look to be bashed in on the quarters.

Silver on Black with Redlines, plus tint (all windows) is cool just as it sits.

I would take this car over the majority of painted (usually wrong), chromed and silly repro interiors any day.

It needs a good home.

PS, if it had Red interior, wow!

Chris.

FYI,

78XW - 15,230 produced.

How many of these with the closed crank case (#614) from California?

Maybe 30 is a bit high but if you stay within budget sorting out small issues it looks to be a fun driver. Thank you for the input gents.

Appreciate the added pictures, certainly would have helped the sellers cause if he had more. Super early build indeed.

Sound mind and body - living at ground level =
18k - 20k full tilt top dollar as-is .
generous side of the coin
beyond that it turns into sentimental value

13-16k "got a Nice Deal" if you wanted to be able to breath after bringing it up to #2 quality with freshened mechanicals and shiny paint. Then it might be a 30+k car .

Not knocking the car at all, just the price structure

Yeah you are probably closer than I am. I tried to be diplomatic about it and took PY into consideration.

Yes late build date but an early date for the new model.

Appreciate your value thought, that would never happen to me. :--)

Just to follow up, that 1964 GTO seller wants 30,000. Most likely using comparable sales as a guide.. I do agree that 18-20 is the right number if you're going to repaint and do mechanicals. I appreciate your response.

64 production stopped late july 64
65 production started late august

65 pilot cars were still a month away at 3rd week of July

what are you saying about this 64 GTO that makes it an early anything ?
something is amiss ... just in case it's me ... i ask

Simple,

It’s a Very Late build for the 1964 Tempest Series as I mentioned in post #1.
Could be one of the last 64 GTOs coming off the line at Fremont.

July, third week, 1964 (7C).

Have a Good Day guys!

With something like 31,000 or 32,000 built, does it really matter

You are right, BVZ -

'64 model year GTO production didn't start until October of 1963 calendar year.

That alone makes it July of 1964 built.

I'm sorry guy's I made a mistake. At ine point I was thinking that it was built right after the 63 cars were finished. Maybe because my father from time to time likes to tell me about the first 64 GTO he saw back in the day. He says he stopped driving to jump out and see it. Considering the change in body style from the prior year and the new 389 performance package I understand. :--)

Cool
Glad you explained.
Didn't know whether to scratch my head , or my butt.

There is a restored 64 Silver with Blue interior Hardtop, Tripower 4spd Nicely Optioned coming up for auction in September at Dallas Texas - Mecum Auction.
The link i glanced at didn't picture any documentation though.

The world was a better place when 64's and 65's were the big money cars at auctions.
