Default 1970 Ex Tips placement

I thought there were pictures on the site at one time showing where the chrome 1970 exhaust tip placement should be and proper angle etc.? Can someone post up a picture or the thread for me please? I cant seem to find it. Thanks.

as I recall there is nothing conclusive.
They were intended to somewhat follow the bottom of the quarter panels, and peek out past the tail panel.
From a rear-on look, they can ever so slightly be point towards each other.

But!!

It seems as though most people "correct" it, to make them not point towards each other.

Here's a good picture I ran across again this morning:

they are ever so sublty pointed towards each other.

Here's a nice post with a member's input:

this is also worth pointing out:

However I do believe that, with the bumper design change in '74, this practice changed to straight parallel.

Your opinion is yours. Assembly line variation did exist.
... I have seen to many originals tucked up and not extended like most I see. canted inward and not canted inward depending on adjustment of tail pipe frame holding bracket.
Humans installed this stuff not robots. ...
Although it's not an exact science, I hope this helps.

I think you will get a lot of opinions. I agree that they have a slightly inward position that matches up with the indents in the tail panal

want to do them like they came out of the factory? point one in one direction and point the other one at a different angle. factory tips were horribly inconsistent in the way they were mounted and got worse thru the 2nd Gen run

The reason they pointed inwards was probably just trying to line tips up with cutaways with a system that didn't want to exit there.
