Yes, according to Steve it takes roughly 15 ft. I will send about 16 ft to be sure.

I will be ready to process orders Monday. For pricing I am planning to set the price at $170.00/set plus shipping(for example, 1 to 2 sets will fit in a USPS small flat rate box, which costs $7.15). For everybody on the list in this thread, there will be a $20.00 discount, regardless of when they order by Providing me with a Paypal address. Also, for a 1 month period for any PY members that order by sending me a PM with a Paypal address, they will also receive the discount. The EBay price will be $170.00 plus freight with no discount.

Some of you might want to wait and see what Steve's comments might be when he receives the set I sent him yesterday. I hope he will post his opinion. He should have that set either Monday or Tuesday.

I am happy that there was enough interest to help keep the pricing down to a somewhat reasonable level. Thank you all for that. This certainly could be a model for other low production colors like Brewster Green if there is enough interest. I hope you will like the Lucerne Blue and If you have any issues, problems or are not happy with the product, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Just a quick update...

Steve Emailed me this message along with these photos. His email was titled "Welting is a Winner". He says he will comment on the thread in the next day or so.

"Attaching a couple pics of a small piece slid onto a spoiler that has our Lucerne blue on it. The color is right on. Different angles of the glare of the welting make it hard to tell but the color couldn't be better".

"It seems a little stiffer than the other colors. I bent it around a tight curve much like the upper tip of a wheel spoiler and it tried to wrinkle slightly but I could easily get it to make to bend smoothly with a little extra effort"
.

No problem Steve,

Just PM me with your Paypal address and what color you want and I'll send you a Paypal invoice that you can pay from.

Thanks,

James

Color looks good. A little heat should help with the stiffness.

Just to add to James' post above, I'm actually surprised at how well this welting matches. The color James used for his supplier was based on a piece of welting on an NOS spoiler I had and a sprayout of the Lucerne blue we use here at the shop. We've done Lucerne cars for members here including Pat Brown, Tim Burton and Chuck Batinovic. All have been very happy with the accuracy of our Lucerne Blue so I feel we have a good color. The pics above actually don't do the welting justice due to the glare I couldn't get rid of when taking the pics. It's great stuff. Thanks to James for all his work!!

Well,

I received some disappointing news last night. One of the PY members who purchased some of the Lucy Blue welting sent me some photos of the comparison of the welting with their car and the match was not good. His car is painted with PPG Acrylic Lacquer. The match was bad enough that the member will have to paint the welting. So it looks like some of you will be happy with it and some will not. Unfortunately that is the nature of this type of project. It is important to me to make sure all of you that support my efforts here please understand that if you are not happy with the product, to please let me know. I will stand behind the product.

I will leave it up to the member to decide whether they want to discuss their particular situation or not, but to me I cannot take someones money for welting that they then feel they have to paint.

I haven't been able to match it yet, but color looks close to what I remember. I do have two flaws in it though (2-1/2' and 6' from one end). One looks like a piece of hair laid on it while cooling and then pulled off. Second looked like a water spot at first, but it's a rub spot of sorts.

HFR,

Let me know about the color match when you can. If it is good and you are happy with it, I'll send you more material to account for the imperfections. I should have caught that.

Problem is, there will be slight variations in Lucy blue paint mixtures. If it matches original sources -- like an NOS body colored spoiler -- then I think that's the best that can be done.

Not every car will be an original paint code version, or slightly off. The coloured welting then provides the option to simply use where it's very close or a much better base to paint over, which also means less coats and more flexible to achieve a match.

Default Lucy Blue

Just purchased two sets of Lucy Blue. Will compare to my original paint 72 TA and see how it matches up.
Would be nice to have all 3 year 70,71,72 car color comparison to see how close it is for each.
Just a thought.

James,
I would thing it is better to paint blue welting the correct blue than painting silver welting blue for the obvious reason. If paint chips or peals it will still be blue underneath. Much better than silver. Plus you can spray a thinner paint coat that will help with the chipping and pealing.
Just my Opinion.

Norwood,
You still have original on your car? If so how are they holding up on color?
Would like to see a picture of your car and how close they match just for camparison.
