My job includes applying decals for dealerships and body shops. That said, use a wax and grease remover on the areas where the decals will go. As for temperature, 70 to 90 degrees is the best temperature range.

Any brand will do. No need to buy PPG. Usually, the local auto parts stores carry QT. cans of it. Don't worry about the paint as it is mild and your paint has cured for 2 years.

Glass cleaner will clean those areas ...where the stripes go.
There is a solution that is applied to the Decal as well as the panel. If the panel is cool....you can warm it up with a heat gun. |

Correct, glass cleaner will work but I carry wax and grease remover with me because I don't know what I will run into from job to job. As for the application, I have tried everything on the market, and I prefer Johnson baby shampoo mixed with water. I use about 2 tablespoons to a quart of water.

Dawn dish detergent works great to remove wax/grease too, can spray a diluted mixture from a spray bottle just like glass cleaner... but can also use a drop or 2 of dawn detergent in a spray bottle to apply the decals too, i found it works much better than the thick gel.
What color stripe are you using on your car? Is the car still orange like in the pic? |
