I can get a freshly rebuilt Buick 350 for next to nothing and I'm wondering how hard it would be to drop in a 70 Firebird(temporarily). I know 231 Buick V6s were installed in some later 2nd gen 'Birds and I'm wondering if the V6 mounts would work w/ the 350? If not, is there anything else that would work? Also, would Olds 403 mounts work for an Olds 455?

the v-6 mounts will work for the 350 buick,i'm not sure on which holes to use in the subframe tho.

403 mounts will work for the 455 but be sure to check the width at the a/c box and the height for the shaker. the 455 is both taller and wider.
if you use a 455 get everything for the engine as the brackets are 455 specific. mike

My friend placed a 350 olds engine into his 68 firebird. His motor mounts had to change and I belive he had to drill holes. I can verify this if you like, email me and I'll call him to find out exactly what he did.

Mike and Kyle, Thanks for the help, but i think I'm going to hold out and see if I can find a good Pontiac 350. The original engine has a cracked block, but I've still got the heads, brackets, etc. Thanks, Caleb

fyi, if a 350 doesn't turn up a 70 and 400 or 455 pontiac will bolt right in your car. most of the brackets will interchange. the 400 will probably be the most common engine to find. mike
