Default 265/75/15 Tires

Will this size tire fit on a 15x7x4 1/2 bs rim under the rear of a 65 GTO ?

I know this may not help a whole lot, but I have a 65 GTO with 265/75/15 tures on it with plenty of room to spare. However I am running a 68-72 12 bolt which is slightly wider than the 65 rear. I am also running 15X8 wheels with 5.5 inches of backspace. Hopefully this gives you a starting point to do some math.

Should fit, i run a 255/70/15 with a 8 inch wheel with 4 1/2 backspace. this is on a 64 lemans with stock rear axle. Outside edge is close to wheel well, but with 7 inch wheel you should be ok. If I want to go out and play a bit I put my 245/60/15's on and it changes the rear gear ratio quite a bit. 255/70 is a 29 and 245 is a 26.5 tall tire.

LeMans64: I have 225/70/14 on it now that are 26.4 tall. I'm trying to change the rear ratio with 265/75/15 that are 30.6 tall. Hopefully this will make a big difference in RPM if I temporarily install them for a long trip.

use the rpm calculator to see how much difference it will make.
