1965 gto routing of headlight wiring
Where does the headlight wiring go thru the radiator support on the driver side and the passenger side. if it goes thru at the top how do i get the headlight plug thru the holes. it is to small. Also what holds the wiring harness to the radiator support and what other fastners goes on this harness. i have a new harness and it has the clips on the plugs that clip to each fender. Any help would be appreciated

I recently took one off a 65 and the harness is held to the radiator support by 3 plastic tie straps. One at each end of the radiator and the center, the head pops thru the tiny holes in the support (1/4" holes a guess). My foggy memory says the headlight harness to the lights snaked around the support and fender while the parking light and horn leads went thru the large holes in the support and the clips attached to the hole.

There is a U shaped opening in the upper left and right corner of the core support that the wiring goes through. (see attached photos)

JimmyM,
Did you ever get your headlight plugs through the U in the core support? I recently ordered a headlight harness for my 65 Tempest and I'm having the same issue. The headlight plugs for the old, and I assume the new harness, will not fit through the core support. Do I need to loosen the fender from the core support to gain more clearance? Thanks, Kevin |

I was able to take a small screwdriver and get the wires out of the plugs put the wires thru the holes and put the wires back into the plugs

Thanks Jimmy. I'll have to see if the new harness will come apart in order to do that.
