Exclamation SUMP/PICK-UP TUBE SEAL

I was surprised recently with a few posts by new owners/members asking about the seal needed on the pick-up tube where it is secured to the block within the oil pan.

Even had someone mentioning opening up a newly acquired parts/spare engine and finding the retaining clamp not installed/missing

This rubber seal must be in place for proper oil pressure flow otherwise you could suffer cam failure.

So just be sure this seal is in there and the clamp is secure before wrapping up the bottom end

Do you have a part number or source for a replacement seal?

DJ,
Here is a shot of the Felpro FULL overhaul gasket set showing their Pt#
not sure this will help you.

I'll pull one out tomorrow and get the size specs so you may be able to find a simular/suitable seal.

Thanks Jeff. I do have the factory shop manual but no mention of this part in the 1967 manual.

Thumbs up

That is correct there is no reference that I am aware of in the '66 and/or '67 SM.
This is likely why so many times this little rubber ring gets overlooked.
And it will effect good oil pressure if not used.

The measurements while not 100% will give you an idea of possibly finding/making a suitable substitute.
Hope it helps.

Cheers.

Thanks Jeff! The fel pro 30115 was "not found" on their website. I also saw Best gasket lists it as 391 in their complete engine kit but does not seem to have it individually.

After a lot of calls, I found the Best gasket 391 available at Kanter automotive. I hope it's the right one.
