For those of you not into guitars, a "partscaster" is a Stratocaster or Telecaster style guitar (as originally designed by Fender Guitars) but assembled from parts of assorted guitars or newly purchased parts. I do the latter, acquiring unfinished bodies and necks and all the other pieces to create a customized guitar.

Here is the current project, a semi-hollow Telecaster style body and neck (an aftermarket Fender item) in American Walnut with a highly figured burl walnut top. I laminated a walnut veneer to the peghead (headstock) to match the body. Wood trim parts are ebony, electronics are similar to what would be found in a Gretsch Country Gentleman (the late Chet Atkins' guitar of choice). I have sprayed more coats of nitrocellulose lacquer than I care to think about on this one. Getting ready to assemble.

Now THAT is a purty guitar! Post pics when done!

I decided yesterday that I need to get my projects in order. I don’t want to look back and realize I had 6 weeks at home and all I accomplished was a few seasons on Netflix!

I got my deck torn down and the back yard re-sodded. Now it’s on to the cars!

I have my 72 TA clone on the lift ready to install the parking brake cables. Picked up the transmission for the 66 GTO today and the new motor was delivered to the shop.

My goal is to have my 72 driving and stopping. I would like to have the motor/Trans installed in the 66 GTO as well as all the windows. It would be nice to have it running but I will probably have to wait on the Tri Power carbs.

Drywalling and sheeting. Sheeting on the lower section and drywalling the top. Have to hire someone to do the ceiling, to high for any of the drywall lifts that one can rent. 13ft in center. 23 sheets of drywall so far,

I found & bought an elusive GTO wagon last fall. Had it all in primer by the first of the year. Used up the last of the paint I had for the '70 on it. Waiting for the decals now.

For once in my life I had good timing. I have been putting finishing touches on just finished home gym, and using it!

Closed my shop about 10 days ago as an excuse to get a job done I had been putting off for three years. Took everything out of the shop and scrubbed and pressure washed the floor and painted it. Had the paint for three years and no time to do this. It took 5 days to fully dry because of sketchy weather and the required heat I had to keep in there. All done now. Time for customers again tomorrow morning. My social distancing method. I pick up customer's car at their work or house. Leave my car. Take to shop, text an estimate if they want one. Repair vehicle and return it with an invoice. "No touch" car repair.

Trying to finish up my 68. Getting much closer. Almost ready to install the Legendary interior and finish up the brakes. Then the front end and shes ready for judging at the nationals. My wife and i both work for a collector car auction and finding time at home is precious. We work the auctions and do photography for there catalogs. Constantly on a plane or in a car driving to an auction or photo shoots. Its nice to have a needed break but never thought it would be in this way. Want to wish everyone good health. And thank you for being such a wonderful group to be involved with.

Sent out, got back, and reinstalled my Brake booster on the 72 TA.

Replaced the rear leaf springs on the 69 TA to put the rear in spec rather than FWD mode. Cut a coil off the front spring to lower the front to spec but went to low. Have to order new front springs.

Pulled the drivetrain out of my 69 firebird 400 conv for a nice driver frame off.

Installed original automatic transmission in 67 GTO of a member here on PY's car.

Lots of fun.

Default Vise

Spent most of our time home schooling our kids. My wife and I both work out of home, and my wife has had to shutter her daycare here so she now has all day to work with our kids. For a little side project, I am almost finished restoring an old Columbian vise that has been sitting in pieces for all too long. I still have to clean up the handle.

This vise was originally painted a metallic silver way back in the day. I also choose a "metallic" when I restored it.

Anybody like to guess what this colour is called?

Nope...

Here is a hint, as the lighting in that picture might make the colour look different than it actually is...

Hint: The paint I used is an engine enamel.

Are you going to put those same decals on the side of the wagon? Never mind see you ordered decals.
