You can download and save the old PM's, making room for new PM's.

Yes I can, but it makes life a lot easier storing PY PMs here.

Wow!

About 2 or 3 years ago everyone's PM storage was increased from 100 or so to 500, I doubt there will a further increase in PM storage space in the near future.

I have 150 now, not 500. Been here since '01. How'd I miss the 500 boat?

Hard to say why, contact Steve (dm_fan) the PY forums admin and he should be able to get things taken care of.

You can contact Steve through his member profile:http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...r.php?u=138692

Bart, IIRC it was the moderators and the members that joined the PY newsletter deal that got the 500.

Pretty sure all of the members were given 500 PMs.

One of the members mentioned the need for more PM space in a Lobby thread and everyone was given 500 by Steve if I recall correctly.

That's not correct on my end. Up in the right hand corner it states I have "Total 137" and in bold below that "Your PM Box is 91% full".

With that being said, I'm happy with what space I have.

Question

I'm a member and it says I have used 81 out of 300 allowed.

Some get 150, others get 500, and others get 300??? Is that how it is????

I'm not absolutely sure if the upgrade was 300 or 500 for everyone as it's been a while, but in any case please contact Steve if you were somehow missed when the PM storage was increased from 150 to 300.

Hi All
Currently all regular members have a maximum of 150 PMs, all subscribers to our Pontiac Journal have a max of 300 PMs (while their subscription is active) and Mods that a max of 500 PMs (that's where B-man got his number from).
Unfortunately, because of the current growth of the Forums and amount of server space it's quickly requiring, I don't want to make any increases right now. Because of that, anyone who's running out of space probably has 3 options:

1) Subscribe to the Pontiac Journal (18 month subscription) to get your max raised to 300 PMs.

2) Prune out some of the PMs that you aren't likely to need in the future (if you weren't already aware, the Forums keeps the PMs you've sent in the Sent folder, and counts them towards your max total. Deleting them can free up a bunch of space.)

3) Download your PMs to your home computer using the download tool at the bottom of your PM page (you can download them as Text, CSV, or XML), then remove the PMs you don't expect to need to refer back to on a regular basis.

Steve

I save mine to hard drive like mentioned above, then delete them.

Once you select the ones to save, and click on the bottom selection: "download as text" it gives you the option to SAVE.

When you click on save, it comes up something like:

privatemessages-JLHarper-9-28-10

...so I will insert the word : sent after my name , that way you will now whats sent and whats received when looking at them on hard drive.

HTH....Jeff
