Default 71 455 ho engine PQ trans rear and more.

I'm listing these parts for sale for a private owner. Taken off of a restored 71 trans am original 455 ho car. Unfortunately the owner went pro touring with LS power and custom chassis. I have the engine complete minus air cleaner with trans still in the subframe with everything on it. Driveshaft gauges steering column radiator and shroud. Wiring harnesses gas tank and fuel lines. Heater and AC boxes. This was a running restored documented car. Everything is in very good to excellent condition. Will have pics and numbers this weekend.

15000 for everything. Also have the rear with sway bar. 23181 area code. Pm if you’re a serious buyer.

Just curious. I see a lot of 455 HO intakes NOT painted engine color. Is there a reason why? I think it has been noted that all came from the factory painted - yet so many are NOT painted like this one?

Comments?

Sweet deal. Too bad guy went LS though.

I think the 455 HO intakes were bare in 1971, painted in 1972.

I have an original untouched 71 455 H.O. intake that still has the factory-applied paint on it. FWIW

Back in the early 90s I purchased a ‘71 HO intake from a parts dealer Terry Rosebush that I found in Hemmings Motor News, it still had the remnants of the original paint on it.

I owned two 71 455HO cars. One was a Trans Am and one was a Formula. Both were built the second week of February 1971 in the Norwood plant. Both intakes were bare (unpainted). When I had the TA engine apart I wasn't sure if the intake should have been painted, so I called the original owner and he confirmed that the intake was bare when he bought the car.

Since it appears there is a discrepancy, it may come down to the plant and shift as the determining factor.

I was asked about a price on the complete engine and transmission. 11k would get them. Would break up the rest from there.

I'm not parting everything out at this time. Would sell the engine and trans together. Then part the rest out. The package is a good deal by today's standards. I did not list the part number of the distributor
