Default Do I need gaskets?

Are gaskets needed between the ram air exhaust manifolds and the downpipes. I can't remember if I took any off....Now that I reinstalled the engine it seems to be leaking there. Any tricks to getting this to seal??

No gasket.

The flare on the pipe seals on the taper of the manifold. You might have to tighten them up a few times before the shape of the flare conforms to the taper, I had to retighten mine several times before they finally sealed up.

Some might object to using sealants and what-not, but i put a thin layer of Permatex copper around the flange mating surfaces just to be extra cautious. Additionally, I took my dremel tool to any irregularities on the flange surface beforehand. With my RARE system, I also had to straighten the flange a bit using a ball peen and a block of wood. Seems to seal real well.

I have the 2 1/4 in HO manifolds with 3 stud flange, I see that Pypes only sells the 2 1/2 inch down pipes, Is there someone who sells the 2 1/4 inch down pipes?
Thanks

Quote from Ram Air Resterations web site. "Collector opening is 2.25" Exact reproductions from GM blueprints. Although a 2.25" collector, you can use our 2.5" mandrel downpipes or 2.5" Ultimate Systems with these."

Ollie, I missed that. Now I need to decide if I want to go with an X pipe.

Thanks

Be careful with the wrench on the manifolds. Very easy to break an "ear" off.
