Default bought a "Barn Judge" yesterday...

...and it was just a couple of blocks from my house

...I last saw this Judge in 1969, heard about it different times thru the years, it was kind of a local legend...there were stories, everyone knew where the car was at, but no one really knew anything....it turns out it was parked in a little unlocked garage for the last 35 years,

...the original owner was a young lady, she drove it off the showroom floor at Wells Pontiac in Richmond Indiana...last week I happened to be talking to a lady in my restaurant and she told me she had a 69 Judge she had bought new....my eyes rolled back in my head, it was the "legend"...we talked for a while and I told her if she was interested in selling anytime in the future, call me...2 days later I had a message from her to call...in short, I looked, we agreed on a price and I purchased the car

...the Judge has been sitting in the same spot, in the same garage since 1975...Gerald Ford was still President last time this car saw the light of day...Happy Days was a new TV show then and the Fonz was still KOOL....

...the Judge is being loaded tomorrow for a trip to a local resto shop for a total cleanup to photograph markings, splotches, overspray etc etc for a potential resto.....hopefully, it can remain a "survivor"

...I'll keep ya posted on the car as things progress

...it was used as her daily driver until 1972 and racked up 45K miles in 3 years...still has 45K miles

...no explanation as to why it was parked...it was inspected and plated in 1975, had new tires installed, but never driven again

...I assume it is an early car also, fairly low Vin#

That's impressive. If I bought that car I would rack up 45K by the end of this year!

WOW! That car should clean up nice! I assume it comes with all of the original paper work too.

Make sure you get a picture of her with the car - plus any old ones she may have of it.

69 DAYTONA...are you from the Richmond, IN area? My wife is from there and we only live about one hour south of there right now. We have found some pretty amazing cars that were originally sold from Wells Pontiac. Lots of RAIII and RAIV cars came out of that dealership and seemed to stay local to the area. Congratulations on the find!

Awesome find Daytona. Like Boss stated try to get a picture of the original owner next to the car before you leave. Looking forward to some more pictures of the Judge.

There's a 70 RA4 car in Richmond that's a similar story in peices as of last yr.The owner called me hunting parts for it.

As Doug said there're a lot of those cars that came from that dealer.

Great find. The seal around the Ram Air pan. does it look more "round" than say the reproduction ones ? I ask this because the one I found in 1986 had the same type.

Seems that area and around Dayton.... remember Judges for sale years ago. Popping up every so often. Also around Toledo.

The finds are still out there !

...New Castle

...in 1968 I ordered a new 68 GTO cv from Wells Pontiac....a friend of my dads was a childhood friend of one of the owners, so I supposedly got a "good deal"

...I remember they had several GTO's there all the time in the service bay, but back then all dealers had hi-performance cars in abundance...I also remember Wells had a pair of new GTOs they had installed 421s in and had the exhaust pipes dropping out behind the rear wheels on each side...I think they belonged to the owners, not sure...I remember seeing the cars, but remember little else about them...I think one was dark blue

...Wells building is still there and still looks pretty much like it did in 68

pix...16 years old, hot new GTO cv...thought I was "king of the street"

...life was good
