Default Ac leak test

Has anyone performed a leak test using argon or c02 gas?Is it safe to use?your thoughts.thanks joe

I haven't. I bought a small bottle of nitrogen I keep around for that (and filling random pool toys if I don't want to drag them over by the air compressor).

Only use nitrogen...it helps remove moisture also.

Use a presssure regulator or a A/C charging manifold as you put the nitrogen in to monitor the pressure as the gas goes in. Nitrogen tank pressure is alot higher than you system can wthstand.

Maybe someone would be willing to share the potential for harm in either Argon or CO2 gasses for testing purposes? Off hand I can't think of any problems, and for that matter there are systems being tested running on CO2.
