Those are the same heads I have on my 400 and they work really well! They are high compression heads!

I do believe they are! They are a good head as they have big valves, screw in studs w/guide plates, and high compression! Send them out to a known Pontiac head guru, ie: Butler, Indian Adventures, Pontiac Dude, SD Performance and have them ported and you will have yourself a great set of heads!!!!

Sorry, but these are not Ram Air heads.
They also are not big valve heads, they are small valve, pressed in studs.

They made 2 casting number 16 heads.
The ealier 16's were big valve, screw in studs.

The 16's on you're YD engine is the small valve 1.96/1.66

johnta1 is correct, actually they made 3 casting 16 heads with the third being the 73-74 SD455 round port head.

You are right, they are the small 1.96 intake valve heads, pressed in studs. What do you recomed I do to get all the preformance that I can out of these heads?I want to put roller rockers on them,do I need to replace the pressed in rocker studs? They are 2 brl heads, will the intake ports match a 4 brl intake?or would they need port matched?

Yes it would be wise to put screw in studs in them.

The intake ports will match.

IMHO it would be cheaper to find some 6X's or other 4 bbl head and use them than do the work on the 16's.
