I have a numbers matching '74 Trans Am and my question is about whether or not I am supposed to have a radio in it from the factory. My friend also has a '74 Trans Am and both cars have been documented by PHS. On his original invoice, it lists an AM/FM radio as being an option. On my original invoice, it lists nothing. According to the Firebird RedBook, an AM radio was a $65.00 option. Was my car then ordered "radio delete"? Wouldn't the original invoice state as such? Was an AM radio just standard then on a Trans Am? If so, is there a "radio delete" plate out there somewhere? Thanks for any help.

You will not see a "radio delete" point anywhere on the PHS documentation. If you don't see a optional AM, AM/FM, and AM/FM Stereo, your car was not equppied with one from the factory. Your car could be equipped with the radio supression package which is the condensors on the blower and the distributor. I believe it includes the wiring as well. Many people put aftermarket stereos in the cars due to cost.
The block off plate is a rare item. It looks just like the face plate but it has no holes cut in it. [This message has been edited by Rocky Rotella (edited 08-05-2001).] |
