Default Whats it worth? 76 trans am

Trying to get a gauge on what the car is worth. Its a 76 that was originally a 400 automatic. I have the original build sheet and the car itself has a believable 52,000 miles but is NOT a prefect car. This one probably lived outside during its early years, then was purchased by the family I bought it from in the 90's and became a garage kept race/street car.

I took it in trade on a motorcycle I sold, but really not attached to it yet.

-Rebuilt (at some point, and likely with not too many miles) 455 with 428 heads. Forged pistons. RAIV type cam, and I believe he said roller rockers but Was run with race gas mixture as its approximately 13:1. I have a set of 96 heads that are totally fresh and can go with the car. This would make it around 9.2:1 which is perfect for the street, and then sell the 428 heads. I have the cam card. Has headers, but no exhaust. I was going to put a pair of mufflers on her and turn the exhaust out before the rear wheels retro style. If I don't sell or trade her right away its one of the first things I will do, along with swapping the heads.

-4 spd trans

-Pretty clean interior. The carpet is decent but not original material. Dash is perfect. Radio area NOT cut out. Console is very good, but the lid cover has a vinyl covering that was home done, so you can see its a bit bunched in the corners. Front seats a little hard and the drivers one has a cracked area on the left bolster, as well as a split in the middle. Passenger seat has an almost hidden split in the middle of the bottom. Otherwise, interior is really nice. Headliner, door panels, rear seat and panels in great shape.

-Paint is original color but a repaint, and a home done job. It is checkered and will need to come off for a restore. Still the car shows ok for a driver if you wanted to do the bodywork later and drive it for now. It got a lot of thumbs up on the way home.

-Body is mostly solid in many of the bad spots. Frame rails are good, floors are good. There is some mud at the rear of each rocker, and it will need lower quarter patch panels. From 20 feet this stuff isn't apparent yet, but its there. Also there are two spots in the trunk, but they don't seem to be large...most of the trunk is perfect, including drop offs. I can see a little rust at the drivers bottom of the windshield, but doesn't seem to be through. Never know unless you pull the glass though. Passenger side looks perfect.

I really think this one is a good start for someone, or even drive it for now and have fun then do the work next year. These are getting hard to find in decent condition.

Opinions on what its worth in present condition? what its worth with bodywork done and new paint?

Thanks!

no opinions? I know these aren't high $ cars and on a scale from $1 - $1,000,000 its much closer to the bottom end. lol Forgot to mention its an AC car and of course all the stuff is in a box.

Thanks...was kinda not even thinking that high due to lack of an exhaust and needing the heads swapped, even though I have the heads to go with it. What would a good one go for, not original drivetrain but with good sheetmetal....not needing quarters, etc? $11,500? $12,000? Still needing paint but without metal repairs...

I had been thinking $6000 on this one...think I'm low?

My experience is the 76's are a hard sell. The non-original motor hurts for a restoration, but the 455 will make up for it with many people. With known rust in some areas, I think $7500 is on the high side. I know of a 76 original 455 4-spd with the original motor, trans, and rear for $6K locally. Yours looks better, but the one I know is more original.

I would say close to $5 - 6K, but that's just a guess.
