Default 65-66 Cruise Control system

I painstakingly removed this system from a 65 GP some time back in the early 90s. I was in the 'yard for about three hours! I got every bracket, nut, bolt, pedal switch, transducer, lever, diaphram, chain, linkage, gauge cluster, etc, etc. I have no idea if the system works, but it is COMPLETE. It has the speed-alert speedo and the needle moves with the knob to set the speed and a little buzzer goes off and maybe a "speed" light, I think, if you go over the set speed, whether the cruise is on or not. Real cool stuff. Part of my collection of unobtainably rare Pontiac FS parts!

I'll take some real good pictures Sun, 1-23 and post them up asap.

Asking $600.

As far as I know all extra functions speedo's were mutually exclusive. (and thus the functions as well).

Are you sure it it's a cruise setup and not a speed warning setup?

For speed warning AND cruise you would also expect two knobs. One to set cruise speed, one to set warning speed. Either that or an extra control to select which you are setting/using.

Don't think they ever made a speedo like that.

I'll go look right now, bu i am almost positive it's cruise, maybe I'm just confusing the functions. I took the low fuel level warning fuel gauge and it's in my wagon. I know only cruise cars had that option as part of the package. And no, THAT is not for sale!

Cruise and speedwarning both had the fuel warning light.

Pity it isn't for sale since I dont have one, and that means I want one

But I've never seen a picture of it, would you mind snapping a couple pics?

How bad U want it? It won't be cheap... reeeeeeal not cheap. The only way to get the best effect is to take a pic of it with the key on and fuel low... neither is possible right now, but maybe this weekend. The car is at my shop and I'll have to jumper wire the junction box to get IGN+ to the key.

What's it worth to you (reeeeeeeeeeeally reeeeeeeeeally not cheap.)

BTW, the only reason I never restored this Electro-cruise is b/c I have gauges in the car and it was going to be WAAAAAY too much work to have in-dash gauges AND cruise... I looked real close at doing it, as you know, it was never available in that combination.

depends on what your definition of really not cheap is, are we talking 3 figures, or 4

But also on its condition, ie can I plug it right into my wagon (which is in very very nice condition) or does it need restoring.

but in all cases, would appreciate a picture!

Regarding the combo, no that was never available unfortunately.

But I'm having the same idea as you (and others probably). My car has original gauges and I have two extra gauges speedo's in excellent condition and a rough-ish cruise speedo and setup.

Going to be a while though before I'll get around to try and tackle that one.

I looked at it, with a little fabrication, i think it can be done... would be really cool!

As for the fuel gauge, it is the coolest thing i think I have ever seen for a big pontiac. I was mistaken on what came when. I got the fuel gauge in about 1990-91 from my "virgin" junkyard in NW Georgia. it came out of a 66 Catalina with cruise. The dash and speedo were gone, but the fuel gauge was still there! then in about 95 or 96, got this cruise setup, but the gas gauge was gone! HA!HA!

it is very nice, way nicer than the stock fuel gauge that was in the wagon. Mine had the usual pits on the top, this low fuel gauge does not! Its a little amber light, about the last 1/8th of the range. Totally self-contained electronics with a 1889 bulb and socket on the back! Oh... I said Id never sell the seats, and there they go... I don't know yet on the gauge. Low 3 digits if I ever do sell it. Maybe trade for a real nice dash tach! I have a console mounted vacuum gauge that was in it when I had the automatic.

Already SOLD. Nobody even made an offer at $500, I knew it would sell at $100.
